What have you tried so far? Let's see. Right after surgery they brought me PURPLE grape juice. Tasted way too sweet and too much like communion. Since I didn't want to feel like I was having last rightes, I passed on this. I had a couple of sips of broth but it didn't taste too good either. So, I opted for ice chips. Later a nurse brought me two containers of apple juice. WONDERFUL, cut it with water and it tasted great. Drank it slowly, but drank it. I am still having trouble deciding what a sip is. Yesterday, I had pear juice and water, gatorade, a very small amount of yougurt, (kids thought it funny, I only ate about an ounce of the container and was full.) I have also had several ice pops made from juice, no sugar added that came from a health food store. They are small, probably one ounce to two at most in a popl. They were/are great. Help with the thirst. I feel pretty dry this morning, but I got up, took the carafate on an empty stomach and am waiting for an hour or so to drink. Last night I felt a little " full " . When I took my last pill, it seemed to get stuck and I drank more gatorade until it felt better. It is really strange. I feel like I have air in my pipes! When I drink I start gurgeling. The air just starts moving. I have had a couple of waves of feeling sick, but the pasted quickly on their own. Don't know what caused them. Safe journey, MGB 03 MAY 00 Safely on the other side!!!! Guest guest
Dear , What a superwoman you are!!!!!!! Sounds like you are doing just great. I have a suggestion about the drink/sip issue. My 2 year old granddaughter was here last night and I was fixing her a cup of milk in her Luvs " sippie cup " and it occurred to me that this cup might help post-ops with the urge to gulp liquids. There is a regulator inside, you can use either the " turtle " or the " rabbit " . I know this sounds crazy but I really think it would help. I tried it out and it seemed to work fine to me. Just a thought...........................
