Important Information: Lymphoma & Breast Implants

There is a recent development in plastic surgery regarding the association of non-Hodgkin’s anaplastic lymphoma cells found in fluid around certain textured breast implants (both silicone and saline). A paper by Dr. Garry Brody reported 34 confirmed cases and more recently this figure has been increased to approximately 50 suspected cases of patients with lymphoma. The recent establishment of an advisory council of experts from plastic surgery, oncology, epidemiology and the FDA to further study case reports of abnormal lymphocytes around breast implants is evidence of the chemical toxicity of some implant components which also included both neurotoxins and carcinogens.
