Guest guest
I think it is pretty awesome that the casting call for the movie specifically stated actresses with no breast implants. While it may hurt some women, I think it sends a pretty strong message--one that I can agree with! Silverstein, blogger at Women & Hollywood, will be moderating. > > Here's the program description: > > Breast Implants, Plastic Surgery and HollywoodTuesday, June 22, 2010, 1:00 PM EST, here > Recently, when the producers of the next sequel of the Pirates of the Caribbean sent out a casting call for female actresses, they specifically said that they did not want any actresses with breast implants to audition. Additionally, there have been several recent articles talking about how botox has become an issue in film because you can't see any expressions on the actors' faces. > > Yet, the pressure to be thin, to have big boobs and to look young has not abated and continues to pressure people working in the business, especially young women, who now get work done when they are very young. This conversation will discuss the impact of plastic surgery on entertainment, the double standards for male and female performers in regard to appearance, and what we, as film goers and TV watchers, can do to become part of the solution, not the problem. > > > There will be online discussion and Twittercasting (to #fem2 and #hollywood) as part of the program. > > > > > > > > > > > > Fem2.0 is the online community where women's voices meet today's issues.
