Hi Cyan,

I'm sorry to hear about your leaking implants. To be sure, an unwelcome event.

The pain and shooting sensations have often occurred for women at all stages of

the implant experience...I had it even with intact implants. I'm not sure if it

is related to the leaking saline or the shell, but in any case, it is certainly

affecting the nerves and that is the source of the pain. Inflammation

stuff....My pain went away over time after I was explanted, and has not

returned.

There is really nothing you can do until the implants are removed except to help

your body fight off any possible contamination from the saline if it has become

filled with organisms, such as fungus. You might want to take some anti-fungal

supplements such as caprylic acid, coconut oil, or raw garlic, but you have to

be consistent and take in large enough quantities for it to be beneficial. For

instance, with the caprylic acid, you might want to consider taking at least

3600 mg a day for a few weeks or more. Anything you can do to kill off

pathogens will be helpful to the immune system.

That's amazing that your insurance will cover the cost of the removal of the

implant! Most of the time since it is considered elective surgery to begin

with, any subsequent surgeries are not covered. So, lucky you!

My advice is to schedule the en bloc removal anyway and try to work out payment

arrangements, because it is in your interest to just get it done right the first

time and be done with surgery costs. Surely you can just remove the implant

and schedule a capsule removal at a later date, but that just seems more trouble

and more cost in the end, when you can just get it all done at one time. I know

money is an issue...it usually is for most women in this position. But

realistically, it just makes more sense to get it all done NOW and not wait, for

several reasons....but most importantly because you may not have the money in

the future, especially if you become more ill due to the presence of the

capsules.

Again, I'm sorry to hear that you have a leak...there are a few women who have

suffered through that, and I hope they speak up for you and share what they did

to deal with it.

Take care, glad you came back to check in with us, even though the situation is

not exactly the best.

Any ideas/advice how to deal with this until I can have my implants removed? Has

anyone dealt with a leaking saline implant?

at a later date (if that's possible). Any advice?

Patty,

Thanks so much for the reply. I know - I am lucky insurance will cover explant,

but basically they'll only open me up, remove the implants, then close me back

up.

I have also been suffering from severe neck and should pain on my left side

(same side as leaking implant). This has been going on for about two weeks; I

can't move my neck without severe pain and sleeping is awful and difficult. I

was shocked when I discovered other woman having the same problem when their

saline implants were leaking. I never would've connected the two.

I'm going to try and find a good explant doc in my area (San DIego) and go in

for a consult as soon as possible. Then I'll know what kind of $$ I'm looking

at before I make any decisions.

Right now, I feel like a freak - one boob is larger than the other. The thing is

though, I like the smaller one better, which I guess is good prep for the

explant and means I'm ready to go for it. One thing that has held me back in the

past is wondering how I'd adapt to my body without implants. Now I have a pretty

good idea it'll be okay.

Thanks for the advice on supplementing. I'm pretty freaked out about the

possibility of fungal and bacterial junk leaking into my body. OMG - why did I

ever do this to myself?

Cyan,

On our list of recommended docs, (which was compiled by many women over the

years, and we have no vested interests in any of them--only that they do

explants correctly), there are a number of them in California and several in the

San Diego area.

Here is the list, just in case it helps.

I'm not sure the info at the end is accurate anymore or not, but I've included

it for what it's worth. Good luck and keep us posted!

Probably 95% of us have asked ourselves the same question! Sometimes over and

over...

But there's no way to answer that, except we just didn't know...

We were victims of inaccurate or faulty information to begin with. And

sometimes we just have to learn things the hard way anyway...so forgive yourself

and move on...that's my best advice for anyone in this position.

You'll get through this!
