Fred has had shortness of breath since around last May. The Neurologist put in for Fred to see an pulmonary doctor, but before he could get into one, he ended up in the hospital with pneumonia. After that the Neurologist put in for it again, but once again Fred ended up in the hospital with pneumonia again. Only this time he did get a pulmonary doctor for the shortness of breath. They did all the test and there is nothing wrong with the heart. It looks like it something to do with the lungs. The pulmonary doctor did a sleep test and has Fred on a cpap 3 to 4 hours a night and a nebuilzer 4 times a day. Even with this he has problems with breathing and will have to have an inhaler. We go back to the pulmonary doctor in May to see how his doing with what his on. Fred wants to see if he can also get oxygen. He seems to be doing somewhat better since his gotten the nebuilzer, but still need's to sleep with the windows open. Will let you know what the doctor has to say on his next visit.

Subject: Shortness of breath

Is shortness of breath a typical symptom of MSA? My

father has recently experienced it. He says he feels

very short of breath when he talks for a while and,

recently, even when he drinks something. He saw a

respiratory therapist today who said that his lung

capacity was ok but his blood oxygen level was very

low. She prescribed oxygen for him to use as he feels

he needs it.

Does anyone else experience this? If so, what is the

cause? I don't understand how is lung capacity can be

ok but his oxygen levels are low.

Thanks in advance!
