I've noted the discussion on Norwegian family histories. My family is also

Norwegian on both sides. They immigrated to the US in the late 1800s and

landed in Grand Forks, ND. My cousins have done extensive research and I've

asked one for some leads for those of you interested in doing your own. One

lead is below. Of note, my dad has been using Family TreeMaker for a few

years and, with input from other relatives, now has documented 16 generations

back!

More later,

Cindy

keep up.)

I can forward a newsletter I get weekly on genealogy and you can subscribe

for yourself (probably at the end of it). It's also a lead-in to more

information and newsletters if you find you're that interested. It's really

fun to hear other people's success stories. Look it over and I'll send you

more links if you want them. (It's time-consuming.) >>

Aloha! This message will be fun to answer. Mahalo for the opportunity!

(You'll never guess where we are...but we go home tomorrow!)

We are delighted also that your Mom has started to get some help. Sure hope

that doesn't mean there have been more problems for them. It had to come! I

can't believe your mother was able to cope with so much.

For " our " family information Don Simonson is a great contact in Cook, MN.

You've probably heard your dad and his sisters talk about him. His e-mail

address is Simonson@... and he has a website www.cookmn.com.

I've had a hard time getting answers from him, but we've been there a couple

of times and he printed out EVERYTHING for me (same program I use), which I

added to what else I have and send your dad a CD with the info. Another time

we were there we spent the night with them...which we resist because of the

imposition, but we did enjoy it! They have a daughter in New Zealand that

we've met. She was working in Antarctica and met her NZ husband, had a baby

recently which you'll see a picture of if you go to the CookMN website.

When I sent your dad the CD there was a problem accessing it...probably

something I did wrong due to inexperience. I think your brother got it

straightened out, but I think I had to do more to the CD to make it

accessible on his computer. I just muddle my way through.

So, in answer to your question...if you have or get the program I can send

you the information on a CD, otherwise I'd have to print it out and you'd

have to put it together yourself...and it's a lot of info. Most of it hasn't

been " proven " or backed up with marriage, birth certificates, etc., so none

of it is guaranteed, and there is more than one version to the parenting of

(I think it is) Simonson. Edith got particularly upset at any

discussion of it. I think Toots and your dad do too, so put your own spin on

it. I've tried to make notes as to the different versions, but that doesn't

necessarily make it right either.

What's the MSA list?

Gotta run! It's my turn for the shower and almost time for free mai tais

here at the Radisson Beach Resort on Kauai. We've had a full day...went

boogie boarding at a couple of beaches earlier with , and

Kelsey (age 5)(the Abrejera branch of our family), then cleaned off some of

the salt and sand in the 5 pools here. There's a beautiful and true to life

picture of the facility on the web.

Let me know which version of the info you want.

Jean
