B,

I always preferred classic and dressy, sometimes frilly and fussy even, to

jeans and sweats. Still do, and refuse to go the route of casual and sloppy.

I'm usually overdressed for any occasion, but I'm old enuf now that I can

claim to be " eccentric " and get away with wearing what I want. I'd still

rather be in a long dress at a wedding or concert, esp when I see some aging

hippie in torn jeans -- and YES, I have seen that at both weddings AND

concerts.

So u go ahead and wear what u like, and don't let the " casual wear

revolution " make u relax your standards.

Regards,

Carol A

Here in California, it seems to be the " thing " for the workplace dress codes

going to more the tie and shirt for men rather than the dockers and polo

shirts... for my workplace (healthcare), I am a manager of a department,

hence I wear the full gammit.... skirt, blouse, dress, pantyhose, although I

do wear an occasional capris with a nice blouse on " Casual " Friday. It's nice

to see more professionally-dressed people in the workplace, although my

employees have a habit of wearing " flipflops " as they say they " never see the

public " ...... hmmmm... we do have a published dress code from HR, so I need

to start enforcing it.

Believe it or not, we have a dress code here. I really don't want " nice

things " , because they can be damaged or stained. BUT I also don't want to

see body parts hanging out that I would see at a bar, if you know what I

mean?

I have a coupla reasons for that, in that many of the walk-ins are old folks

like me and prefer also not to be viewing the privates of the young. And

darnit, WE never got to wear that stuff, even in private! LOL!

Still, our " uniform " is jeans or " decent " shorts, shirts or sweat shirts

that keep the color of your underwear YOUR little secret.

Now, when you think about it, isn't it ridiculous to have to tell people to

wear clothes to work?

PS. Most of them know how to dress, but occasionally a young one gets our

environment confused with the bars & billiard rooms. Must be the similarity

somehow. LOL!
