Guest guest
New diagnosis-neurologist thinks dad may have a little bit of what Dudley had, plus symtoms of SD (blood pressure drop, etc) Mom now wants ME to decide where dad should go for 2nd evaluation, as insurance may not cover more than one "2nd opinion". Sorry this is long, but I told mom I'd "ask the group". Dr. Baser was shocked at his decline since she saw him last, and now appreciates why I'm pushing for another evaluation to find something that could help him. She cut the mirapex, which may be causing stomach distention(since Xmas), but still has him on Artane. Anyone on this drug??? Doctor suggested the following: 1.Mayo Clinic-Dr. Philip Lowe.....said he is the 'world's best' 2.Cleveland CLinic-Dr. Sweeney 3. She does not know Dr. Chelimsky. Some of you know we are trying to get an appt. with Dr. Tom Chelimsky at Case Western Reserve, also Cleveland. Who has experience with any of these doctors? My understanding just from the web sites, was the Cleveland Clinic did more with Parkinson's, than with movement disorders, and that Case Western Reserve was doing more for MSA, etc. Is this correct? I need a tie-breaker here, don't know which doctor to pursue. My parents live in Pittsburgh, I can help get them anywhere. Mom was impressed at what I've learned from you all, as I was quoting much of what the neurologist said, as far as No way to diagnose definitely, etc. You are all very helpful, I feel we are losing this battle with my dad-he's slipping so fast. Appreciate your suggestions and help. Cindy B.
