AND I have a wallet card provided by my surgeon's office (or maybe it's the 3rd party administrator?) that explains my surgery and respectfully requests that I be allowed to order half portions, childrens' menu, etc. If I ever have a problem, I could flash them the card. Actually I used it a couple of times when I first got it bcuz I wasn't sure how restaurants would react to my asking for something out of the ordinary. But I never really needed to use it. Guest guest
I have no problem eating in local restaurants, just order what I want, taking the rest home for the dogs. I am not a leftover snob, I used to LOVE having leftovers, but since surgery I can't eat them, reheating food changes the texture enough that my pouch can't tolerate it. Even better is going out with a friend or two and just placing a bite or two of their entree on my bread plate and not even ordering for myself. I've pretty much given up trying to eat on the road. No time for nicer restaurants, too much waste as their is no dog or companion to eat 80% of the food ordered. Fast food places NEVER work for me. Cracker Barrel has a little kids menu that they were happy to let me order from, the chicken strips tasted pretty good but didn't stay long. Last Christmas I stopped at a Chick-Fil-A, ordered the 4 piece kids meal. Having about 2 pounds of change in the bottom of my purse, I paid for my meal in coins. When I sat down at the table to eat my meal, I opened it up to see a 12 piece meal...LOL...the man must have been in the Christmas spirit, assumed that since I paid with change the 4 piece meal was all I could afford and he took it on himself to feed me. At the time, I weighed about 250 pounds so it must have been quite logical for him to assume I would have ordered more if I could have. Guest guest
With the exception of Denny's. They will not give me what I order. I have to order what they have. You can not get just ONE egg... they will not serve it. It has to be 2 .... so on and so forth. I got so frustrated with them that I will not go back. Betty on ordering small meals Is it just me? I order small meals, ask if I can order off the children's menu, or just get what I want and bring most of it home. Never, in nearly 3 years, has any waitperson asked me about it. They simply do what I ask. No problems. Never. People I am with usually know that I had the surgery, but if they don't, and they ask about the small meal or " lack of appetite, " all I do is smile and shrug. What're they gonna say? I don't find it a problem.
