Guest guest
My understanding about skin tags is that they are caused by the friction of skin rubbing against skin. They are commonly found under the arms, under breasts or in the little folds in the neck. If discovered when tiny enough I've actually just pulled them off with tweezers....not a good idea if they are any size at all as they will bleed profusely. I have had the dermatologist freeze them off. When we lose weight, there is less rubbing and they are less problematic. B

Guest guest
Please explain more about the " skin tags " . I have never heard this term nor know what they are. Please tell me more. Thank you, Betty Skin Tags Before GBS, I had scores of skin tags on my neck area. I mentioned that to my local support group and many also had them. Since my surgery, they all but disappeared, which makes me feel that skin tags are related to diet, nutrition, malnutrition, digestive issues, but what I don't know. Have any of you had this experience? Does anyone know the answer? in Akron Homepage: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Graduate-OSSG Unsubscribe: mailto:Graduate-OSSG-unsubscribe
Guest guest
Many years ago, I dated a woman whose figure was fabulous, no sign of obesity, but she had scads of skin tags on her chest. I saw scars where the doc had burned many off, but either more came back, or he had done a very incomplete job. And, I dated another woman who, it would seem, had skin tags all over the lining of her vaginal canal [don't ask!]. Needless to say, we practiced safe sex. So, there may be more than one form of skin tag, or more than one set of conditions that encourage their growth. I have had a few in the vicinity of my neck that I have pulled off with tweezers, maybe 3 or 4 in my lifetime. At 9:45 AM -0700 10/19/02, Sue Barr wrote: >I had zillions of them! Guest guest
My experience with these nasty little things are that I developed alot of mine when I was pregnant with my daughter and they got worse the heavier I got. I finally went to my PCP and had him remove them. Mine were mostly on my neck and my chest. They are easy to remove and it doesn't hurt too much - mainly like little pin pricks. My PCP told me that they do need to be removed as they will continue to grow and multiply - sort like warts, I guess. Mine kept getting caught on my necklaces and on my blouses, so that's why I got mine removed. And they haven't grown back. They're particularly common where your thighs rub together, or under your arms, for example. Some types, not all, may be caused by a virus, and can proliferate or spread just bcuz of that. Guest guest
I'm guessing the low oxygen for half our lives (the asleep half). I dunno, Dr Fox told me that in passing one time. I've seen very few people who had them by the truckload (I kept regular monthly visits at the derma to get them frozen--my preferred removal) who did not have apnea. I had maybe 2-3 over the years being heavy, but not full blown apnea. The worse it got, I am telling you I got 10 new ones each day! m Re: Skin Tags > > > > They are a free bonus gift of sleep apnea. > > > > Ditch the apnea (diagnosed or not) and lose the skin tags. > > > > Yipee!!!! > > > > signed, > > Former Tag Queen > > > >

Guest guest
Nope, and that's only my supposition. Since that's what apnea is. Or at least for the worst of us, oxygen levels dropping into the 60% and such. If you ever catch Dr Fox, ask him WHY. I think I did and he didn't know either. Probably something he picked up in amedical book, then matched it to live people, same as I did. m Re: Skin Tags > > > > Apparently, heat, warmth, + irritation + lack of continuous oxygen. > > > > Interesting, no? > > > > m > > > I shoulda read on a bit futher, I can understand the heat/warmth/irritation > with added moisture connection (sorta like growing mushrooms...ugh!)...but > lack of continuous oxygen? Got the idea from going to my pcp. Usually totally painless, I one of these things had gotten irritated and engorged and was very sore. So I went to the doc, who took a (pretty dull) scissors and snipped one off and charged me $50. You pull the tag out away from the rest of your skin and snip as close as you can get. They bleed a bit, but not much. A band-aid will take care of it. Carol A

Guest guest
I'm fighting this carb binging now, myself. I'm having a hard time with it. I've put on 5 # now!!!!!..... *sigh*.... HELP..... how to fight this??????? I think I'm having a problem with the changing of season... LOL.... Betty Re: Re: Skin Tags I am currently fighting the carb cravings.. glad you mentioned that happens. I was wondering if that occurred the further postie we became. I am still experiencing the reactive hypoglycemia too.. but I had diabetes prior to weight loss surgery.I suppose that those of us who had diabetes may be more prone to developing the reactive hyppoglycemia after weight loss surgery too.
