Guest guest
Sizes have certainly changed....I go from 162-168 on any given day and can wear a size 8 or 10 depending on the cut. Yet I have a friend who is 150 and wears a 12-14. Guess we are all truly different! Sue in Las Vegas Curious question How is it that someone that weighs 151 or so can wear a size 8? or 10? I weigh 153 and wear a 16. Plus I've had my TT too boot...... Guest guest
I would think that it depends upon the height along with the weight of the person. just my guess. I am 5'8 " tall, weigh 155 lbs, and have been wearing a size 4 jeans since I was 15 months postop. I still wear the exact same jeans that I bought then and just wore them the other day. However, some of the pants I buy are a 6 and sometimes an 8 tall (from Penneys). It really depends. Skirts and capris I wear a small or 4-6/6-8. Tops are usually small or medium. Guest guest
I'm 5'4 " and 133 lbs now and pretty reliably wear a size 6 (though sometimes a 4 (YESSS!) and sometimes an 8 (no complaints). In jeans, I often find that 5s or 7s fit me best because my butt's much smaller than it used to be. My measurements are 37-25.5-37. Before my abdominoplasty, I was 155 lbs and a pretty reliable size 10. Pre-op, I was 310 lbs and a strained size 32. Guest guest
It's not just bone structure...it's many different things. Height, bone structure, weight distrubution, clothing manufacturers, type of undergarments, type of clothing you wear and the list can go on. My personal size indicator is a pair of jeans for the bottoms and an oxford shirt for the top. Jeans usually run a bit smaller than dress slacks, but I don't wear dressy anything very much. My job requires jeans and t-shirts. So, my size indicator would be different than the executive out there. JMHO! Guest guest
At 240 pounds 5'9 " I wear a size 18, whereas my step-mom at 157 and 5'8 " wears 18/20. This really pisses her off. But that's another subject...the " some of my family are angry, unaccepting, unsupportive of my weight loss and not being the " fattest " anymore " scenario. And then there's the " your weight loss isn't really an accomplishment because the surgery did it for you " camp! Vick A. Guest guest
It is such an individual thing. We are all different heights, and bone structure. Some are more *solid* than others. I was in a 12 at 180 lbs. My high weight is 130 now, and I'm in a 4-6. There are others that are in my size that weigh more than me. Also, people are different in their tastes...some prefer a tighter fit on clothes and others like the baggy feel. It is so variable. Guest guest
I went to Mervyn's One Day Sale yesterday....spent $$$$$ (only because I am at the same weight & stable now for months). I am 5'6 " and almost 52 years-young. I bought size 8 med. Lee Jeans, that zip, button and NO ELASTIC on the sides or back and NOT a boot cut, but a straight leg! I could not believe it. My low maintenance weight is 145 and my high is 149. Yesterday, I was at 145 lbs. But an 8 ????????? I went in there specifically to get the relaxed fit, elastic forgiving sides & backs & a boot cut to compensate the calves; THOSE looked awful on me! Even I cannot believe the size change....my bones have to have more density than when I was young. Look at the extra hundreds of pounds it has carried throughout the years. An 8 dress is sometimes too big on me now. It is definitely a very curious question! Barb B. > > > > > >>How is it that someone that weighs 151 or so can wear a size 8? > or 10? Guest guest
Your bones have much LESS density at a lower wt. Count on it. Measure it. Now, when we were heavy, we had some SERIOUS bones. But now? No way. m Re: Re: Curious question > I went to Mervyn's One Day Sale yesterday....spent $$$$$ (only because I am > at the same weight & stable now for months). Guest guest
Two of the biggest factors has to do with bone density and muscle mass. Those two things carry more weight, but less mass, so you could appear smaller, but register a higher weight. Michele (with one L)

Guest guest
My endocrinologist says that those of us who have been overweight for most of our lives have built the " dense " bones that we needed to support the extra pounds for those many years. It explains the number of 150-lb size-eights that we know are out there that our naturally slim sisters find so hard to believe. Works for me! Guest guest
Oh we built 'em extra thick, all right. But then with the wt LOSS, comes bone loss. It works both ways, much to my unhappiness. m Re: Curious Question > My endocrinologist says that those of us who have been overweight for most > of our lives have built the " dense " bones that we needed to support the > extra pounds for those many years.
