>>> contacting Al Roker about press coverage? ::: snip ::: and he

supposedly had WLS, though I don't know if he has come public with that

yet.<<<

Roker has basically been forced into going public and will be appearing in

public for the first time to talk about his surgery -- he did NOT choose to

go public and I really feel sorry for him that media believes just because

he is in the public eye he doesn't deserve his privacy about such a private

topic --

On other Celebs -- If you catch Stern you'll see Sharon Osbourne

and/or the whole family there often... I've seen Sharon eating chips and

drinking a soda on the show -- Carnie doesn't fall to far behind the

" bad public examples " in terms of NOT actively putting out the " REAL " front

that this surgery requires a lot of work on our part and she's nearly silent

on the front of nutrition post-op -- over all, I strongly believe the Celebs

who are " out " give the wrong impression about post-op life on TV and more

specifically on channels like MTV where a LOT of young (teen's) watch and

1.) get the wrong impression of post-op life 2.) get the message that

surgery is a " cure " for the weight... not a tool that requires all the stuff

we know it requires --

It doesn't make me proud to have these very public faces sending the

messages they send about WLS... in fact, it is scary...

Oprah has always been very anti-WLS so that is no big surprise but I think

she sends a bad message to those who choose not to have the surgery with her

constant yo yo diets -- pre-op my cardiologist told me that is WAY harder on

my heart (the yo yo stuff) than to be obese and just " stay " at one size...

And on the " size " front -- anyone who watches prime time TV and all the

sit-coms -- notice how MANY of the husbands are " men of size " all married to

wives who are very thin and attractive after having 2 or 3 children... how

weird is that? I think the last " woman of size " that played the roll of

" MOM " on a sit-com was Rose Ann -- Gotta wonder what kind of message this

sends to all the real " mom's " AND husbands and families -- the " It's ok if

Dad has a huge beer belly but mom should be thin... " message? How sad for

the million + mom's out here in the real world.

Hate to be picky about this, but if he didn't PLAN on going public, then why

was his surgery filmed for a feature on Dateline??????

My take on this is that he was willing to go public at some point, when he

was satisfied that this too would not be another failed diet or

embarrassment. He was outed almost immediately, and THAT was unfair. He

should have been able to disclose when and if he chose to do so.

Waiting for the November Sweeps week, would be my guess. As Barkley

says in his new book, " I could be wrong, but I doubt it " .

---------------------------------

My own opinion? I think she DID have WLS - recently. In just a couple of

months she went from pretty darned plump to fairly svelte, and has been

putting out the word that she did it all thru weight training. Yeah, right,

not in THAT short of a time, I don't think it's possible. Y'all must have

seen her pics from the awards show that were plastered all over " People "

magazine and the tabloids............
