Just wondering if anyone saw the Oprah Winfrey show today on the above

subject. I am still sitting here, crying. All the pain, humiliation, terror,

self-hatred, frustration, agony, recrimination, guilt, disgust -- you-name-it

-- came flooding back.

Especially the terror. I am terrified that I could maybe end up going back to

all that. Does it never end?

I saw it too Carol, and felt a lot of the same feelings. Being one that

never stuffed myself, like these women admitted to, it was quite a shock to

me, and I'm sure it didn't help the cause of obese people to show this woman

forking in the food, but felt it was exploitive. I felt very badly for her.

I do believe that we all need to do the head work..that Oprah insists

on...but I did take exception to something she said..and I wrote to her show

to complain about it. Her friend was one who had lost, I think it

was 200 lbs in a year. Oprah said: " And you didn't have surgery or

anything...you DID IT THE HARD WAY! " This was a definite slam to people that

have had the surgery, and while I enjoyed most of her show, I felt highly

insulted by her remark. Having our guts rearranged is the *easy way*? I

think not...and I said as much. Not that my protest will mean a thing...but

felt better within my skin yesterday to complain to her show about her

remark! I know she is anti-WLS...but I think if enough of us

complain..she'll at least keep her ignorant remarks to a minimum! She had

Carnie on...and it's obvious that Carnie had to play down the surgery

to be on her show..as she did.
