I just turned 50, and I'm getting my period about every 4 months now, on average, but there was one time when I went 6 months, then other times when it was every other month. My Mom told me this went on for years with her. At " only " 51, this just may be what's happening. I go for my TT and butt lipo on 11/19, so we'll see how that affects my periods...ugh! Just try not to worry until you know there's really something to worry about, you're still at that transition age. Good luck, in NJ

Guest guest
Help All: Just got the surprise of my life yesterday. Am 51, did not have a period for almost 1.5 yrs pre WLS, & ( have not had my period in 2.5 years.) WLS Sept. 01, and TT/LBL July 02. Have lost a total of 101lbs. I had a bit of discomfort, felt like 'ovulating' (almost forgot what that felt like!) over two weeks ago. I went to the Gyn, and she said my uterus was swollen, sonogram scheduled for next week. Then...I get my period yesterday!!! Am scheduled for an endometrial biopsy next tues & sonogram next wed. I've heard a lot about the excess estrogen released after large weight losses, plus the reconstructive surgery & panni removal. Would like to know if anyone has, or has heard of anyone getting a 'period' after menopause? Of course, my thinking is wandering towards real scary diagnoses'. And....now that I've lost all my weight, am a size 8, am feeling, geez, sure.....now that you're where you want to be in life, you get this major mess to deal with!! Help!
