I ended up having a small (and I do mean small) slice of pizza, some mango, grapes, banana, ugli fruit and fruit snacks for my brunch today. We didn't eat before we left, I wasn't sure how much time we would have if I made breakfast for everyone and then tried to go shopping and as I had to work that is what it came down to. I had a grilled chicken wrap for dinner with some soy quakes. I had a craving for something so when I left the store I picked up some slow chrun ice cream, I hadn't tried it and it is lower fat, not sure about calories. SO that is my food for the day that I can recall. Oh don't let me forget my smirnoff Ice that I'm sipping at the moment. I'm not sure how many calories in it, but I am assuming at least 140. > Off we go, water bottle and snack in tow! I hope you had a good time and took your pedometer with you. For today I did much better with 10279 steps at the moment. I will keep it on a little longer tonight to see if I can get a few more. OOoooh, how I wish I could eat all that fruit without my BGs going off the deep end. Let alone pizza! Though, I did make a pizza of sorts that didn't send me out of control for hours like regular pizza does. A pita bread, 1 tomato sliced thin, 1 big spoon of garlic, Italian seasonings and olive oil, and fat-free cheese. Didn't have any tomato sauce at the time so made it without. It was still good! At this rate, I'm going to lose my own Challenge! How do you girls get so many steps in? Maybe I'm just not registering all my steps. We walked around the bottom floor of the Museum, then went to a park for lunch, then to the grocery store (admittedly in-and-out), then to La Cantera where we parked WAY away from the store we wanted to go to, then got back in the car and went to Bed Bath and Beyond, then to target! > > a > SulaBlue
Guest guest
Sounds like you have done a LOT for today! Good for you! I have 2 loads of laundry going.I need to do a 5 minute room rescue for Living room, kids room and our room! Then I still have to swish and swipr the bathroom. All and all I think I can be done with the house in less than an hour! For breakfast and lunch today I am doing slim-fast, but I have to get the kids' lunch ready, Chicken quesadilla, Half a banana, and some steamed carrots. Well I better get off my duff and go! Guest guest
> OOoooh, how I wish I could eat all that fruit without my BGs going off the deep end. Too much or certain kinds of fruit don't raise my BS's that much but *do* cause them to come crashing down about an hour later. I already know that my limit is 2 to 3 servings a day. Let > alone pizza! Though, I did make a pizza of sorts that didn't send me out of control for > hours like regular pizza does. I make mine with half all-purpose or semolina flour and half stone-ground whole wheat. I've also made them with 100% whole wheat but the kid complained it was a bit *too* chewy for him, but Ed and I liked it. > I'm at 6,352. At this rate, I'm going to lose my own Challenge! How do you girls get so > many steps in? I find a few turns around the grocery store is good for racking up the milage. But most days, especially when I don't leave the house, I'm lucky to get one mile in - 2000 steps, which is why I didn't bother joining the challange. > Maybe I'm just not registering all my steps. That's been my problem lately I wrote a post about it last week or week before. > go to, then got back in the car and went to Bed Bath and Beyond, then to target! Most likely those steps aren't being counted. You'll have to walk a distance, counting every step, then check your meter and see if the numbers match. Play around with the sensitivity until your meter counts them all. Right now my best pedometer is on the highest sensitivity and still not counting everything, so it might be time for a new one. Guest guest
Yep! It's WONDERFUL. I made some soup a couple of weeks ago that I'd avoided making for a very long time because emptying it all into the blender to puree the chunks was SUCH a pain in the butt. The immersion/stick blender whipped it all smooth as silk in just a couple of seconds and since I use enameled castiron cookware I was able to stick it right down into the stockpot! It's also SOO much easier for making smoothies with. Just use the plastic cup that comes with it, put your ingredients in and mix. If you're making for one you can drink right out of that (though it's a bit big) or pour into two glasses. Cleanup's a breeze on mine - the wand part twists off and can go right into the washer. Certain food-prep gadgets make life (and staying on plan) SO much simpler! SulaBlue > > Ok I missed something. Guest guest
It is! I love mine.... I use it for soups and well just about anything that is in a pot or bowl that needs blending. LOL! But, I don't use it for Smoothies like Sula does. I have a little smoothie blender (I think its Hamilton Beach). It's small, with a base sort of like a blender and a " cup " with a lid. You use it like you would a blender, although it just has on/off. Then you can keep the lid on and take it with you. We have two cups/lids (due to trying to make hummus in it... burnt out a motor). So, two of us can take a smoothie with us on the go. It's a strong little bugger..... especially for the price. warmly, Kim On 3/6/07, <ib_domesticdiva@...> wrote: > Ok I missed something. Guest guest
Hi Are you back on the stress treadmill now? The trick is to 'stress dose' on HC just an 'increment' if you need it. The body does that anyway if the adrenals are working properly; your's are, I think, low and need extra support.....my DW does 'stress doses' if needed; they can need doubling if it's the worse type of stress ( as might be, first days back at school). It should calm down in a few days and the thyroxine will help too I also used to feel sick in the mornings (as a kid) when I tried to do a paper round and schooling and late nights... Guest guest
Hi , Tesco do a dried papaya (Green self-sealing pack along with the other packaged dried fruits) which helps if the tummy is getting too much hydrocortisone. Second point: looking at the Omeprazole, it reduces the acidity much as does sodium bicarbonate. I think the effect of raising the pH (going alkaline) is to reduce teh absorbtion of hydrocortisone from the stomach (see the paper a few posts back). I don't know if it's the same mechanism for the interaction between Omeprazole and cortisol level in the case of endogenous cortisol compared to that which is absorbed via the stomach (the oral route)...it may also differ by skin absorbtion of hydrocortisone ( it's then not the GI route ). Can you adjust the timing of your Omeprazole so that you do indeed get some stomach acid during the period when you need to absorb the hydrocortisone ? .....aha! best wishes Bob > > Hi Bob > Yes I am back at work but only do 3 hours a day and enjoy going, I even go in when really I shouldnt and feel ill. Guest guest
Hi I wonder if you are having a reaciton to the cortisol. I have found the following. Hydrocortisone can have quite a few side effects, and one is an upset stomach, and can cause nausea. Do not, however, stop your HC without speaking with Dr P. It could be sheer coincidence, but it would be better to have a quick chat and put your mind at rest. Are you still taking the Bicarbonate of Soda? Guest guest
Hi , When you say you feel " sick " , are you referring to feeling nauseous? (some people use sick for more generally feeling unwell - just checking ) Have you been feeling shaky/shivery too? I ask because nausea and shakiness can be a low cortisol symptom, just to add further confusion to the picture! How are you dosing your HC, what times of day, at what amounts? Sometimes too much all at once can suppress whatever cortisone you're making yourself, and you can end up lower cortisone than you started out. A bit like what happens when you're building up on thyroid meds. I hope this isn't horribly confusing... there's such a lot to juggle and work out what's causing what. Good luck, Janet
