Guest guest
Hi . I'm in the process of having that procedure now. I had a bi-lateral mastectomy 4 ½ years ago with immediate reconstruction with saline implants. I found the implants to be very uncomfortable and was miserable for 4 years. I decided to have the implants removed, but didn't want to be flat, and also didn't want to go through the extensive DIEP flap procedure. My doctor suggested the " BRAVA assisted fat grafting " procedure. If you've had a mastectomy, you need the BRAVA device for successful transfer, but if you have breasts I don't believe you need to use the BRAVA (not positive about this). Basically, the fat grafting procedure consists of using lipo suction to remove fat from the fatty parts of your body (hips, thighs etc) , and injecting that fat into your breast area. If you want to do more research, just do a Google search on " breast fat grafting " and you'll see a lot of information. Feel free to contact me directly if I can help you with more information. Be well. Theresa > > Will someone please explain what it means to have an explant with fat transfer? > > Thank you. > > >
Guest guest
I think (I might be totally wrong tho) that when implants are removed reconstructive work on the breast is done with fat from another area of your body. The breast are built up or given fullness that way instead of putting more implants in. That's my guess anyway I heard Dr. Feng in OH who does total capsulectomy is familiar with this procedure. The cost for this is on top of the total capsulectomy cost. Guest guest
Thank you . I may consider this option but it depends on my appointment with Dr. Melmed tomorrow. Guest guest
Hi Theresa! You don't know me, but I've been a member of the support group since 2005 or 2006 (can't remember).I just read about the BRAVA procedure you are talking about. Who is your Dr.?I wish I would have known about this option earlier! I was explanted in 2006 with a total capsulectomy, and have been walking around with FLAT and deformed breasts ever since (and when I say flat, I mean COMPLETELY flat. Not even a 32AAA). =( My skin/nipples are also stretched out. Has anyone that's gotten very sick from implants every gotten sick from this (I know that it's ones own fat, but most of us have weakened immune systems). Please let me know what you know about this, and who your Dr. is! Thanks so much! HackettOn Tue, Mar 1, 2011 at 5:42 PM, tfmorrogh <tmorrogh@...> wrote: Hi .
