Guest guest
To add to the list of nostalgic items--how about gas rationing, and shoe rationing? How my sister-in-law, my sister, and I competed for my father's shoe coupone--he never seemed to need the two a year we each got. And we also had a 3 star flag hanging in our window to signify my three brother in service. Terrible war, but we were a united people to help in any way we could. The only time I ever saw my mother in slacks was when she took a first-aid course with the Red Cross. Lou Reynolds
Guest guest
Lou, You know, I don't remember shoe rationing ) I know we always had our shoes repaired, maybe mom traded those stamps for other items. We were always short on sugar (she preserved a lot of fruits and vegetables) and some other food items. I remember we did not have a car and traded our gas rationing stamps to neighbors for rides to the market and other places. We did have a " Victory Garden " and kept it after the War. Dad was crippled by polio as a child and could not walk well, but was an Air Raid Warden, helmet, flashlight and armband. Tony, I remember Captain Midnight and Sky King - but not Captain Video. Take care, Bill Werre ------------------------------ lou Reynolds wrote: > To add to the list of nostalgic items--how about gas rationing, and shoe > rationing?
