Guest guest
Ms Newby, your experience sounds horrible. I can understand not thinking it could happen to you. I am sure Superman never thought he would be a quadraplegic. When I get into a car, I think the next deadly accident could never be mine. I am glad I don't have a crystal ball telling me when it will be my turn. Fay Bayuk 300/182 10/23/

Guest guest
I am afraid that Al is not completely informed about obesity. Also he still in the honeymoon stage. He will be in major trouble if he doesn't educate himself better. I am sure further down the road, someone will enlighten him. Guest guest
> > I was listening to Matt Lauer comment on Al Rokers surgery, and Matt said that one in 200 surgeries end in death. Is this true? I was not aware of that. Al also said that he felt like a failure, because he had to have surgery. I am just sorry that such high profile people like him and Ophra, say things like that. I for one do not think by any means that this is the easy way out. > ************************************** Yes, that's the statistic I've heard, but I believe that's the same in all surgeries, not just WLS. As for Al's comments about feeling like a failure, hadn't we all felt that way prior to WLS? Anyone who had been through numerous diets with numerous doctors, losing, gaining, ashamed to go back to the same doctor, or having a doctor go " tsk, tsk " just put that fork down. It wasn't until I started researching WLS that I realized that IT WASN'T MY FAULT!!! I was a fat child, born with that gene or having a chemical imbalance which never allowed me to feel full and sated with food, not having that " switch " that tells me I'm full, I don't want any more food. Al realized he needed help, Oprah thinks Dr. Phil is all she needs! Ha! She will yo-yo until her body starts giving out, she's young yet, it will happen. Just a reminder...Al Roker is on Dateline tonight. in NJ
