Guest guest
momofmytwo momofmytwo I have never written in, I have been reading these messages for 2 weeks since I found out about this group. My mother was diagnosed with MSA a little more than 2 months ago. She has been in alot of pain and her GP did put her on Morphine but in the last 2 weeks since she's been on it she has become totally disfuntional. She can barely walk or sometimes talk, she doesn't eat hardly anything. She was at the doctors yesterday and they are checking for a bladder or urinary infection as a I have read on these messages and from Pam that an infection can make you go down quite quickly. I was wondering what drugs any of you use for pain, that will be ok with MSA? She had gone down considerably since her diagnosis like she has lost her will, she seems to be in alot of pain and she is so cold all the time she can't get warm. If anyone can help me with the name of some pain meds. her doctor will basically give her a prescription for anything as we have been teaching him about MSA and giving him all the links on here that have been of great help to us. Thank-you, and I enjoy reading all your messages and have been learning from them. momofmytwo
Guest guest
Welcome , Sorry to hear about your mom. I am sure you will get lots of input about pain meds from those on the list. I am a caregiver to my husband Jerry who has MSA but has not experienced any pain so I am not up to date on pain meds. However, I did want to let you know I saw your post and will be thinking and praying for all of you. Guest guest
, Generally, pain associated with MSA is related to cramped muscles. Therefore ask your doctor about anti-spasm medicines, the people here use many different medicines - most related to MS or some other muscle cramping disorder. Your doctor is in a better position to tell you which one to try (may have to try several). It is important that your mom does range of motion exercises and your doctor can get her physical therapy to help.
