Hi everyone: Does anyone know approximetly what percent of the people

with MSA have the bp problem? Bob has all the other symptoms except that

one. I guess sometimes I question the dx, although I realize it doesn't

matter which disease it really is. Just wondering. Thanks.

Regards, jerrie

Jerrie,

Others on the list like Pam, Bill, etc. will likely clarify or correct this

response, but I think even though you may not start out with autonomic (or

OH) problems, OH is one of hallmark features or symptoms and its the one

that the neurologist pointed out as the definitive issue when he diagnosed

my brother with ShyDrager. That and the babinski reflex.

Can't speak for anyone else but Leo never had the dramatic fluctuations in

his bp I've heard about on the list. Ginger

Hi all,

If I remember correctly it is something like 87% that have the BP problem in

MSA, much more so than other symptoms. BUT, some don't develope the OH for a

few years (Charlotte went at least four years without it, and then it was

controlled well with Florinef.

Take care, Bill Werre

Jerrie,

I believe it basically means when you stimulate the bottom of the foot from

the heal to the toe the toes turn up instead of curling under. This reflex

is only normal when it occurs in very young infants. In any other age group

it indicates a neurological problem, such as MS or Shydrager, etc.

Jerry: What is the babinski reflex? I haven't heard that term before.
