Hypoglycemia and birth control pills

I have a friend who isn't a weight loss surgery patient and who has been

normal weight all of her life. She began to have weakness so severe they

started evaluating her to see if she had MS. It turned out that she had

pretty severe hypoglycemia. Her physician told her that it could be made

worse by birth control pills. I have no idea what the mechanism for this is,

or how thoroughly it's been researched. Anyway, she went off the pill and

changed her diet and very rarely has symptoms now.

Anyway, if I was having symptoms and was on birth control pills, I might look

into it.

I have some symptoms of mild hypoglycemia. I think of it as sort of a cousin

to dumping. Anyway, when I follow the Carbohydrate Addict's Lifespan Program

(hate the title, like the science behind it) I don't have problems. I can

eat carbohydrates once a day, in moderation, combined with protein, fat, and

fiber, and I do fine. Obviously, this probably doesn't apply to someone with

severe hypoglycemia. I'm an amateur, some of you are pros.

p.s. , I wish one of my doctors would put me on the Chicken Fried Steak

diet. Mine tend to suggest that I eat some vegetables and walk 36 miles a

day. I always point out that I'm burning lots of calories with my constant

WHINING....
