Guest guest
I went to my PCP yesterday as a follow-up because I had been extremely fatigued. I told her I was feeling much better, but I had added protein shakes. She was really pleased. I told her that I would like my labs done because it's been six months and I'm not yet 2 years post-op. She took 's list and ordered them as is. Then I talked to her about a dexascan. I told her that some post-ops were developing osteoporosis and it wasn't showing up in the blood work. She said of course not! It doesn't show up in the blood until it's too late. Gosh, I love a doc who does her research. I told her I was particularly concerned because my surgeon had me on calcium carbonate for a year before I learned from the learned post-ops out here that I need citrate. She ordered me one ASAP. She said she would order it based on my being menapausal so it would be covered for sure on insurance. Monday, I have my endoscopy to check out the ulcer in my pouch, so over the next week or two I'll be getting some mighty fine check-ups. I'm going to request that I receive the results as well as the doctor so that I can chart any changes. She (my doctor) said it was too bad I didn't have a dexascan pre-op for comparison. Hopefully, though, it will be good news. I was just involved in a pretty bad car accident and slammed by hip very hard against the door. I was x-rayed for possible fractured hip or pelvis. Everything was okay, so hopefully that means my bones are still pretty good. in Akron
