Guest guest
Hi all; I am just reading some of the over 400 messages I have on my computer since my journey to Oz....There was something on the net today about insulin and my diabetes. I was on seven shots a day, and since my surgery 9/13/99, have not shot up one time. Harvard (Joslin) is currently doing a special study on my case; and we have to send all my labs to Joslin. MyA1C's have gone from 12 to 6.2, and for all of you diabetics, you know that's normal - well, as normal as I can get!!!! If anyone has a question, please email me directly at RexanneLSW@.... Thanks

Guest guest
Rexanne, It is good to see you posting. I am still thinking of you and still so grateful to you for taking time to call and talk to me. I'm still fighting with the insurance company. I have appealed and should have an answer one way or the other within a week. I am still planning on having the surgery either way. I have read many nice comments about you and I'm sure they are all very true. Thank you again so much. Guest guest
Rexanne - I was the one asking the questions about diabetes. I am on Glucotrol orally one daily but the doctor has threatened to put me on insulin if I can not get my sugar levels down. I have to admit I was being very bad and not watching my diet at all but am being better now - he scared me!!! Do you know why diabetes seems so controlled after surgery? If my insurance company approves me and will let me wait until Sept for the surgery that is what I think I will do. I teach, and so should have it now while school is out but have a great summer job and hate to give up the extra money which I can really use at the moment. Thanks for your help. The less you weigh, the less insulin your pancreas needs to pump out. I'm diabetic, too, and my sugar levels have been fine since surgery. You'll lose 11-20 pounds the first week of surgery (most of that is water weight, but hey, it's weight, right??! And it's *gone.*) I haven't taken glucaphage since before surgery. I also have not needed to take a diuretic I was taking before surgery. My ankles and I are getting reacquainted. Kind regards,
