Hi Zoey:

I have joined this list because my daughter is trying to get approved for

the surgery. We live in Jax.,Fl and as far as we know, there is no surgeon

here who will do the MGB. The closest one is in Tallahassee which is out of

her Cigna district. Any comments you have about Cigna would be much

appreciated.

Congratulations to you and hope you are still doing well. Sounds like it

with all the traveling.

Sounds like a terrific group of people on this list. My prayers for all

of you and please remember my daughter, Suzanne.

Thanks and God Bless You!!!

Dear Susie,

I am so, so sorry about the loss of your husband. I have read your posts

before, and I admire you so much because you seem so brave to me and you

are going to have the MGB and live your life (or have you already had it?)

It is so nice of you to write me about this. The doctor thinks my reflux

is because I have a hiatal hernia. If he is right, then Dr. R can probably

fix it when he does the MGB. I am taking Prevacid, and that helps me.

I hope so much that I didn't make you feel bad with my silly post where I

made my co-morbidities sound worse than they are. I was being funny and

not meaning to be insensitive.

Thank you again for your warning. Everyone with heartburn should know that

this is a possibility so they can have it checked.

Thank you,

Sara

Dear Sara,

Please... no matter how soon youhave your surgery please get on

medicaion for your reflux and heartburn... my late husband always

suffered terribly from that as do both of my sons now. It turned out to

be a faulty sphincter in my husband Martys esophogus. Not knowing this

he suffered and took antacids for years. It unfortunatly turned out to

become cancerous because of the constant acid errosion. This would have

been preventable and treatable had we known and he would have been here

with me for support while having my MGB and just for every other reason.

They even have a quick little surgical procedure now where they stitch

the sphincter to work properly. I don't mean to scare you but I only

wish someone would have been abe to alert us! Good luck Susie G

My husband was diagnosed with OPCA just about a year ago. His illness has progressed very rapidly, so much so, that he is now in a wheelchair. I just purchased a Dodge Caravan and had a rear entry, lowered floor ramp installed so that I could at least take him out every now and then, just so he can feel human. This conversion was the best one for him and for me. It is extremely simple to use, just straight in and straight out. It is also about half the cost of a side entry ramp. If anyone wants more information about this, just email me at mmmarmat@....
