Guest guest
I take something called Simply Sleep by Tylenol occasionally when my husband's snoring won't let me fall asleep. It's an over-the-counter medicine I get at Walmart and seems to help a lot. The dosage is 1 - 2 and I only need 1 to do the trick. It works FAST! Good luck! Guest guest
Just a suggestion....may not help you at all. But...have you tried taking a 500mg calcium citrate tablet with Vit D and magnesium right before bedtime? You need the calcium citrate anyway, and it is supposed to help with sleep problems. Chrissie shihtzumom@... http://users.snip.net/~shihtzumom My WLS Journey: http://millennium.fortunecity.com/doddington/691/WLS/this_is_me.htm Sleepless in NJ Hi All, I could use some help ) I haven't been able to sleep well for months. It's probably due to menopause (I'll be 50 in Sept.), and Tylenol PM just wasn't cutting it anymore. So, I went to the doc, and got a prescription for Ambien 10mg. Well, after 2 nights of taking it, and waking up at 4:30 AM, I had an epiphany. I called the pharmacist, and asked him if he was familiar with gastric bypass surgery. He said, " Um, uh, well...yes. " What that really meant was I've heard of it, but don't know a thing about it. So, I briefly explained about the bypassed intestine, and asked him if that's where it was absorbed, and if that's why it wasn't working. He said, " Oh, no, it's absorbed in the stomach. The stomach acid breaks it down. " RED FLAG!!! Ok, so I told him I don't have a full stomach with acid anymore. So, he tells me to maybe try taking it with something acidic, like orange juice. OK... Next, I call my PCP (didn't tell him I spoke to the pharmacist), but did mention that maybe due to the bypass, I wasn't absorbing it well. So, he tells me to take 1 before bed, then if I wake up, to take another half pill. So, I do both...I took it last night with OJ, then when I awoke promptly at 4:30, took another half. I dozed a little, but not good sleep until 6:30, when I finally got up totally frustrated and just made my coffee. Needless to say, I'm plain old exhausted. So, my question is have any of you taken sleeping pills with success, and not the kind where you wake up with a hangover? I'm on the road a lot for work, so feeling like a zombie is just not a good idea. Thanks for any input! When I hit " that age " , I had to stop drinking coffee after noon because it kept me awake, so I gave that up many years ago. Just need my jolt in the morning now. Thank you! Welllllll, suffice it to say that he cannot have them back, and now > I > do sleep on through the night, once I get to sleep. > > Scares me when my PCP is right! *********************************************** , ya know, I was thinking about that. I have some relationship stuff going on right now, and it has been upsetting. That, and this awful heat just drags me down, too. I was " talking " to Flo about about how when we wake up in the middle of the night, we can't stop thinking about whatever stresses are in our lives right now, and that is sure a recipe for sleeplesness. I thought that maybe we wake up in the middle of a dream, and never get to relieve that anxiety that dreams are supposed to help with, so we wake up really stressed. But the point is, denial or not, you just may have hit the nail on the head. Thank you,
Guest guest
I've just started trying Sonata - it's supposed to be short lasting, so if you wake up at 2:00am and take it, you won't be tired in the morning. I'm not groggy in the morning, but not sleeping through the night either, so I don't know what's going on..... Guest guest
I can't believe how common this is! Good luck resolving your sleeplessness, too! ******************************* > I've just started trying Sonata - it's supposed to be short lasting, so if you wake up at 2:00am and take it, you won't be tired in the morning.
