Guest guest
: I would at least report it to his doctor by phone and see if he feels a need to see him. I know many here have the feeling of having pressure around the head. My husband feels he has a hat on. His also had the clammy feeling , hot one moment where he wants his clothes off and then the next cold to where he wants everything back on. Your father feeling of suffocating could be because he had a panic attack, but it could be something else. I know I'd at less call the doctor, and let them know and see what he has to say. I think everyone would rest better if they did . Vera ****************************** From: "ladybug64dd" <diggle@t...> Date: Sun Feb 17, 2002 9:21 pm Subject: has anyone run into these symptoms My father has msa, diagnosed in 1996. My parents dont have access to a computer so I do this for them. Something unusual happened to my dad on Friday night and I wonder if anyone out there has experienced this and if so what did you do? My father(Arno) woke up in the night complaining that he was hot, burning up. My mom (Trudy) said he didnt feel warm but was actually clammy to touch. So they got up my dad got a drink and went to the washroom. His BP sitting was 80/55 pulse 92. Thermometer was not working so no temp. They couldnt get his standing BP because he was to dizzy to stand long enough to get a reading. He said that he had a headache and it felt like he was suffocating and felt like there was a steel band around his head. My mom is really worried as we all are. They live in a small town (pop.350) nearest medical facilities are a 5 hour drive or the medi vac. Help!! It feels like my dad has taken a turn for the worse and they are so isolated up there. Guest guest
I have had this many times. I am 43 year old. When that hat BP and HR incidence with me , people go thru a fast list of ?'s 1)did i take my meds? Sometimes I fall asleep and someone failed to wake me for the meds:) 2) How many gatorades did I drink that day? OR this is while they are moving and situating me into another position depending if I was sitting , standing, or laying at the moment. 3) also, it is getting to the point that UTI's are becoming a problem. so look for other behaviors that aren't his norm. I am not saying everything is due to UTI'S For sleeping 1.) Ask the doctor about a.elevation of head and/or feet/legs. b. tell the doc about the steelband feeling around ur dad's head, the BP/HR readings BEFORE he went to the bathroom, and the feeling of excessive heat to him but not to ur mom. 2) Consider a bedside comode right next to ther bed. Walking to a bathroom when ur dizzy oir lightheaded increases the chance of falling and being confide to a bed. I have my commode facing my bedside next to my bedtable. I also have a plastic gripper sheet under the commode and table. I don't want to stain my lite pink carpeting . 3.) The use of a thin, white hospital blankets on his bedas oppose to heavy coverings may help his feeling of being over heated. I put pillows (body pillow and 4 head size pillows -2 stacked, 1 ,then 1) ontop of the body pillow to help prevent me from rolling my upper body off the wedge pillow. I leave the sheet and blanket untucked over the pillows. ASK ur dad though, because he may like it differently than me. I get overheated if I end up bundled in my blanket like a little baby. nancy m. ladybug64dd wrote: > My father has msa, diagnosed in 1996. Guest guest
Hello , Yes, when I was in the hospital in August 2001, that was one of the test performed on me. The tech did the test on me, then himself, then went to get neuro. I was given a high voltage and nothing happened. Guest guest
hello karen, no, i did not have the itching, it stayed numb to the touch, but hurt inside. i did have a red spot from where they put those electrobe things. all the neuro told me at the time was that my nerves were interupted. it was not until 3 days and 3 or 4 tests later that he gave me the dx and said it was all connected somewhere in the brain. sorry i could not be more helpful. wanda --- karen darcy drcfamily@...> wrote: > Hi lawanda, > Thanks for writing back. Guest guest
--, I am not an expert by any means but are you talking about EMG and not EEG? I believe EEG is only done on your brain. I have had both but have not had any humilation with either. I really didnt feel the EMG either so it wasn't painful to me. Guest guest
Greetings ! Why be humiliated? You need to start to realize that things are what they are. Don't feel humiliated at any of the symptoms. Start to accept them. Yes, I've had those tests. It's not the worse pain I've ever had. But it is 'interesting'. Regards, =jbf= B. Guest guest
Greetings ! Have a talk with your doctor. No tech should get 'angry' at the patient. You have the symptoms, the tech doesn't. Regards, =jbf= B. Fisher

Guest guest
--- , I am so sorry that the tech put you through the humilation of redoing your hand so many times. I don't know but I would think if she couldnt get your nerves in your hand to do anything it would mean something was wrong with the nerves in your hand and not keep zapping you. I often wonder if people ever stop and think about what they are doing to others and think about if they were the one laying there being zapped. I would call the doctor and ask him/her about it, for sure! Belinda In shydrager@y..., " karen darcy " wrote: > Hi Belinda, > You are correct. It was late last night and i wrote eeg .
