Guest guest
Hey Folks, Finally back online after double bypass two weeks ago yesterday. Home in 4.5 days then had to evacuate two days later for Hurricane Lilli (no property damage), family all ill with viral stuff cept me so I could not put my computer back online (no lifting, etc) until wife did it day before yesterday. Thanks for all the inquiries and well wishes I found in my mailbox and bear with me and understand that I do intend to catch-up. I tried a couple response to posts on the site but they seemingly fly off into the darkness to never be seen again so I thought I would try from my email direct. Bypass went well cept for one lil dozy of a BP drop on first day in ICU and they held me for another day, but after that it was all downhill. I feel great and discomfort from surgery minor and the chest pain, IS GONE. I posted about this in reference to Ray drinking all that soda. Many of you may know that my proximal RNY had been considered " failed " due to expanded stoma (30mm). Interesting thing has happened. Whilst at the hospital I naturally had to eat right to regain strength and they gave me diet for diabetic NO SODA, no sugar and no trash carbs. On third day there I was flushed and heart rate making nurses come in to see me in the middle of the night. No one could make sense of what happened. Finally it hit me. I was dumping on sugar substitute and heart rate was high as a result! Me dumping???? Also my pouch liked the smaller portions I forced myself to eat to regain strength and I was never hungry but ate max a cup full of food. I am still doing that, no carbonation, no trash food NONE, and drinking good portion of water BEFORE eating and I have lost 13 lbs of 26lb regain. I am stupefied. Just basics. Regular ole basics and I had to have my chest cracked to relearn it on a gut level. Dan Slone Surgery 5/2/2000
