I think the major source of this is not so much a rash as dry skin.

Dehydration can play a big role here. The other thing is the lack of movement,

if I did not wash Charlotte often she would get a heat rash when the skin was

constantly moist, especially in summer.

Take care, Bill

I think I've heard that the parasympathetic system is affected in

MSA and that this can contribute to a condition my brother frequently

experiences, which is a red, rash appearance on his hands and extremities.

Rashes and MSA

A while back I recall seeing several emails commenting on the occurrence of

rashes for people with MSA.

Is there any empirical relationship here? That is, do many folks with MSA

have rashes that are related to MSA?

Deborah,

These rashes could be causer by skin being dry or with the decline in the immune system, these rashes, could be from a fungus, reaction to one of the medicines, or some other pathogen.

I am writing to all really, to suggest that the proper doctor to see for these skin problems is a dermatologist. Usually your pcp or neurologist will hand you a sample and say "Here try this it might work". Go to a dermatologist. They are trained to identify and treat rashes and other skin reactions. I don't think a rash that you mentioned as ".....I look like I have poison oak/ivy covering my body, especially on my face and chest. " is a dry skin reaction. have a dermatologist look at it ASAP. Too get to any solution, one must first be able to identify the problem.

God Bless,

I am also very interested in finding out this same information. I have been fighting reoccuring rashes since my dilantin reaction since February. Right now, I look like I have poison oak/ivy covering my body, especially on my face and chest. Deborah aka Tenacity Charlotte, NC. Ok now I am going to give you a possibity for whats its worth. Could

it be an allergic reaction to one of the medicines you take and only

happens when you spend more time in the sun? Sorry if this has

already been suggested. I know that in my teenage years I would get a

reaction to a medicine I was taking if I spent time in the sun.
