My question on this would be with an altered digestive system with a

bypass, IS the calcium in dairy something that can be utilized?

Unfortunately, studies are done on normies, so an RNY post op's mileage may

vary substantially. My belief would be that more of the calcium in dairy

would be malabsorb than would be the CALORIES, in other words, is it worth it

for the calorie toll?

Now, I'm a VBGer, so I do fit into the " normie " category, but even I try

to go light on the milk and heavier on the supplement because I don't want to

spend my calories on it. By keeping the milk out of my protein shakes I have

90 more calories to play with, and that can be A LOT!

And the whole thing about the " Ice Cream Diet, " PLEASE!!! Haven't we all

tried enough of that stuff in the past? Grapefruit diet, Banana Diet,

Seafood Diet, etc., etc.

My thought are that milk is not evil, but it is unnecessary. Just my

view of things.

It only takes an average of 200 extra calories a day to maintain our body

weight 20 pounds heavier than what is " healthy for us. " For many that is the

difference between goal and an elusive goal!
