Guest guest
I am not sure if results will help in anyway. Wouldn't it be better you don't know about the contaminants and once the implant is removed forget and move on with life? I think this may be better approach to healing. If you concentrate too much on getting healed or if you focus too much on sickness I think it may impede healing process. Anyone else who have sent it to Dr. Blais, has this helped in any way? Sun From: Sparks <stacyjo100@...> Sent: Thu, March 31, 2011 9:14:43 AMSubject: Testing w/ Blais; How did it help? I would like to address this question to those who have tested their implants with Dr. Blais.I am curious to know how this was helpful. Do the results correlate to treatment? Do some people find out nothing was wrong with their implants? I am just wondering if I learn there are fifteen contaminants in my implants HOW that helps me. I think the obvious is that it might explain my symptoms as implant illness instead of chronic fatigue. Also, does anyone know if Dr. Kolb recommends this testing? I had my explant/ lift/ muscle repair with Dr. Melmed on 3-25. He does seem to agree the testing is helpful in any way.Smiles,
Guest guest
By the way, congratulations on your explant with Dr. Melmed! So glad to hear you got it done! I am not certain about Dr. Kolb's recommendations on testing...I believe that she has worked with Dr. Shoemaker on the mold issue and so probably recommends testing for the contaminants in that regard. http://www.chronicneurotoxins.com/ http://www.wlky.com/r/4707444/detail.html Patty > > I would like to address this question to those who have tested their implants > with Dr. Blais. > > I am curious to know how this was helpful. Guest guest
Some natural therapies hit many things, like caprylic acid, it is anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, and anti-viral.... In any case, addressing the gut issues and gettin a probiotic on board for awhile before you start would be good, cuz with many, if you have malabsorption problems, then nothing will work well.... Guest guest
Patty, I am not an expert on these implant testing, this may be a stupid question, but by the time you send it to Dr. Blais wouldn't it accumulate more bacteria/fungus? How do you tell if your body had it or if the bacteria/fungus emerged after explant and while it was being sent to Dr. Blais? Is there a chance that once the implant is out of the body and in the air it might accumulate bacteria/fungus? Anyone know? Thank you Sun From: glory2glory1401 <glory2glory1401@...> Sent: Thu, March 31, 2011 11:07:28 AMSubject: Re: Testing w/ Blais; How did it help? ,It will help in the same way that an infection is cultured for organisms....to know how best to attack the infection and use the appropriate antibiotic. In the case of implants, it would be find out if you are dealing with a bacteria, or a fungus, or both from within the implant saline solution. Unfortunately, that solution does not stay sterile. You wouldn't want to take an antibiotic for a fungal problem, and conversely, you wouldn't want to take an antifungal for a bacterial problem.Knowing what drug to use is only known by culturing and identifying the organisms. However, for those like me who want a natural approach and didn't want to get on any drug merry go round, I chose to use natural herbs and therapies that would fight off everything, using a shotgun approach. It may not be the most effective, but it can work. For those with money and the desire to be very targeted in their healing efforts, having their implants analyzed and knowing exactly what they were exposed to is a great way to go. I wish we could all do that. I wish that the manufacturers' had been responsible enough to request that the follow up be done on all implant recipients so we would have an encyclopedia of knowledge about what is going on! Alas, we have had to figure it all out the hard way. And many of us don't have the spare cash. Guest guest
Sun, There is always that possibility, although I believe Dr. Blais tests the solution within the implant, and after explant, I am not sure that any of these would find their way into the solution. In that regard I think the tests would be worthwhile. Dr Blais has instructions (which we have on file in our files section under the explant folder) for how to handle the implants after removal. He states: " Generally, prostheses and related tissue specimens are suitable for transport as they leave the explanting facility. If implants are in plastic bags, they should be placed in a rigid plastic container for transport. If capsule tissue is included and there is fluid in the containers, the container lids should be taped shut and the containers place in self-seal bags or a large plastic bag which can be knotted or taped to prevent leakage. Pathological material should be left labelled according to usual hospital and laboratory practices, including clinical labels and/or direct ink markings. However, if labels or markings are not present, the patient's name should be noted on the container(s). Other information, such as the date of the surgery and the side of origin should be provided when possible. " You would think that most medical professionals would know how to properly handle medical devices and send them off to us correctly. Having said that, my explanting surgeon gave me my implants in a covered plastic bowl. I still have that stupid bowl. Guest guest
Hahaha patty-its funny the things we keep sometimes... A lot of ps's should know a lot of things they don't! I think we've all learned that the hard way. Sun-mine should have arrived in canada this week. I'll let you know wht I find out. According to dr blais, the implant even after being out of our bodies should be prestine and clear. If the valve is doing what its supposed to, nothing should be able to get in or out. Mine were floating with white gunk like snow globes. And there was a spot of mold growing in them not near the valve. I am def healing and getting better (thank you God!) But I def want to know what was killing me so I can continue to educate other women who may be in the dark like I was. Hugs and happy thursday to you all, ~bev Sent via BlackBerry by AT & T Testing w/ Blais; How did it help? > > > >  > > I would like to address this question to those who have tested their implants > > with Dr. Blais. > > > > I am curious to know how this was helpful. Guest guest
Hi there, Gosh I hate to disappoint you! It's probably true that they threw them away, unfortunately. It's all medical waste. If you did not specifically request that the implants be returned to you, or to have a pathologist look at anything related to your explant, (the implants, the scar tissue), then it all just goes into the trash. The only other possibility is that they shipped them off to the manufacturer as returned product for whatever reason, but there is small chance of that if nothing was mentioned otherwise. I think you are better off directing your energies at healing at this point. No use wasting precious energy on something that can't be reversed!! Think on positive things! Stay hopeful! You have good reason to! Women do get better after implants and their is life post explant! Guest guest
I just read what was posted as to Dr. Blais's protocol for sending implants/capsules...you want to contact him for his CURRENT protocol...it is different.Barbara, Winston & Yogi"The greatness of a nation can be judged by the way its animals are treated" GandhiPeace & Kindness in 2011In loving memory of TIRAWAFrom: moodynomad@... <moodynomad@...>Subject: Re: Re: Testing w/ Blais; How did it help? Date: Thursday, March 31, 2011, 12:31 PMHahaha patty-its funny the things we keep sometimes... Guest guest
aw...Thank you Sun!! I truly feel blessed to have Dr. E. I am beating the odds with contaminated scar tissue in me. If it wasn't for her knowledge and vested interest in healing, i'd hate to think where i'd be right now, being how sick i was especially AfTer explant. Her breaking down my scar tissue with laser treatments was brilliant. It's also killing back the mold along with the herbs. I reallly didn't want to physically, mentally or financially have another surgery and being that this was my only hope, it seems to be successful so far. it's a continuring fight, my oxidation levels are still somewhat high, my heart still beats hard and i have the fatigue and flare ups of pain an imflammation in my neck, back and hands some days but I am so winning. I know it'll take time but my hopes are high now that i will be 100% again. It's crazy the things i've noticed on my body, for example, i used to have deep ridges (horizontal) on my thumbnails that are now gone...they're still on my big toes.....i know they mean something...do you know in chinese medicine? and also i had big yellow callouses on the pads of my big toes (it means some kind of blockage) and they're almost completely gone too...and this is just in the last 2 months. i'm glad you're preparing your body for explant. a lot can be helped before they're out, at least you've got a head start. My adrenals are in working order now finally and my digestion is so much better, finally, after years of problems! I would eat and eat and eat all day and constantly feel starving and lose weight. Some might not think that's a problem but it was for me! There were days I was having supplement mental breakdown. i didn't want to swallow one more pill....but i kept at it. i've been so determined to get my health back. And our bodies have been so poisoned and depleted...taking many many suplements 3x a day, is nothing in the long haul. Guest guest
Bev, Keep it up and before you know it, you will be healthy again!! Just keep imagining yourself being healthy and vibrant. --------- What Your Fingernails Can Reveal About Your HealthIn Traditional Chinese medicine, examination of parts of the body, such as the tongue or fingernails, can provide valuable information about the health status of the whole individual. According to a venerated Chinese medical text, "If something happens in the interior of the body, it must be reflected in the exterior of the body."The Fingernail Picture of Health. Colors, shapes, configurations and distortions in the general shapes of the fingernails can indicate a great deal about an individual's health - provided you know how to read the signs, according to traditional Chinese Medicine. While fingernail analysis is a complex and richly detailed diagnostic art, taking into account shape, size, color, appearance, and strength, practitioners Zong Xiao-fan and Liscum, authors of Chinese Medical Palmistry (Blue Poppy Press, 1995) offer the following self-help guidelines.White Fingernails: When the fingernail appears pale, white, and without luster, this can indicate anernia, or what acupuncturists call "blood vacuity." This denotes a lack of vitality and life force in the blood associated with specific organs, and sometimes literally a shortage of blood.White, waxy fingernails can also indicate ulcerative bleeding or the presence of hookworm or other parasitic infestation, which produces a chronic loss of blood. Tiny white speckles appearing under the fingernails suggest a possible deficiency of calcium or zinc, the-activity of internal parasites, chronic constipation, or a state of fatigue. A single horizontal white line crossing the nail is typically associated with lead or arsenic poisoning.Abnormal Nail Arc Shadows: The little white crescent at the base of each fingernail is known as a nail-arc shadow or "health circle." In a healthy person, each fingernail has a well-proportioned arc; arcs indicate not only one's general physical condition but the state of the cardiovascular function. If the arcs are unusually large or asymmetrical, this may indicate high blood pressure; if one or more arcs are missing (out of the ten fingernails), this may suggest an imbalance in the nervous system or anemia. The arcs may become obscured and hard to see following a stroke, but they may also become small or obscured if there is gastrointestinal disease or ulcer, asthma, acute pneumonia, or gout.Fingernails With Grooves: Grooves or dips that cross the nail horizontally indicate a recent health problem or emotional or nutritional disturbance. The presence of more than one recessed groove can point to parasites in the intestines and/or a chronic weakness in intestinal function. If there is a groove on the index finger, this often highlights a tendency to develop skin disease. A groove on the ring finger is associated with eye problems, bronchitis, or respiratory disease; on the middle finger, with a loss of muscular strength; on the little finger, with problems in the throat, nerves, or gallbladder. A groove on the thumb points to a low level of basic life force.Distortions In Fingernail Shape: When the fingernail appears to lie level across the skin without a curve, "1ike a flat sheet sticking to the fingertip," state Zong and Liscum, this usually connotes a low disease resistance and a state of physical weakness, especially after frequent illnesses.A fingernail with a thin weak middle section and creases running lengthwise along the nail body can indicate a parasitic infestation, a calcium deficiency, or anemia. A short, square shape to the nail often reflects a person who is impatient and potentially subject to heart disease; this, is especially so if the health circles are small or missing on the same fingernail.Specific Health Problem Indications: A tendency to develop high blood pressure (and/or its actual presence) is indicated when the left index fingernail is light red, dumbbell shaped, and has a vertical mark in its center. A crescent shape in the lower-right comer of the left ring fingernail often points to uterine fibroids; a light red or purplish red, oval, crescent, or strip-shaped fingernail is an accompanying indicator.Problems with the prostate (such as chronic prostatitis, or enlargement) are connoted by a dumbbell shape in the central portion of the left ring fingernail; the nail may also be light red or purplish red in color. Diabetes may be present if there is a round dot on the left middle fingernail and the fingernail is white.Source: Alternative Medicine, Issue 26. -nn Cade- - - - - - - - - - - - - -This is what we learned about fingernail markings in the "Nutrition" class at CNHP school:(On the thumbnail, 25% of the nail bed should be covered by a moon. This means that your calcium intake is good. (The moons should decrease in size a little on the next 3 fingers. (If no moons appear, or you only have small moons, your parathyroid glands are not sending the calcium to where it needs to go in the body. (A red haze over the moons indicate circulatory weakness. (The pinky finger should have no moon. If it does, check the heart.(Vertical ridges indicate digestion weakness. (Horizontal ridges indicate stress. (White dots or lines indicate zinc deficiency. (Vertical black lines at the top of the thumbnail indicate heavy metal toxicity. (Peeling top layers of the nail indicate liver weakness. (Really thick nails indicate yeast.(If you put your hand flat on the table, spread the fingers out, and nails turn white, that would indicate anemia. (All these markings can appear on toenails as well as fingernails.) -Carol Matz- - - - - - - - - - - - - -Nails as Diagnostic ToolReading your NailsNail changes may signify a number of disorders elsewhere in the body. These changes may indicate illness even before the rest of the body does. Seek medical attention if any of the following symptoms are suspected.)--Thick nails may indicate that the vascular system is weakening and the blood is not circulating properly. (Editors Note: It can also indicate Candida)--Lengthwise grooves or ridges may indicate a kidney disorder and is associated with aging. An iron deficiency may also cause ridges.--If the white moon area of the nail turns red, it may indicate heart problems; if it turns slate blue, then it indicates over exposure to silver or lung trouble.--Brittle nails signify possible iron deficiency and thyroid problems, impaired kidney function, and circulation problems.--Flat nails can denote Raynaud¹s disease.--Yellow nails can indicate internal disorders long before other symptoms appear. Some of these are problems with the lymphatic system, respiratory disorders, diabetes, and liver disorders.--White nails indicate possible liver or kidney disorder/or anemia.--Dark nails and/or thin, flat, spoon shaped nails are a sign of vitamin B12 deficiency or anemia.--Deep blue nail beds show pulmonary obstruction such as asthma or emphysema.--Nail beading is a sign of rheumatoid arthritis.--Yellow nails can indicate internal disorder before other symptoms appear. Some of these are problems with the lymphatic system, respiratory disorders, diabetes, and liver disorders.--White nails indicate possible liver or kidney disorders, soft, shiny nails without a moon may indicate an overactive thyroid.--White lines across the nail may indicate a liver disease.--Thinning nails may signal an itchy skin disease (lichen planus).--Nails separated from the nail bed may signify a thyroid disorder.--A half white nail with dark spots on the tip points out a possible kidney disease.--Raised nails at the base with small white ends show a respiratory disorder such as emphysema or chronic bronchitis. This nail condition may also be hereditary.--Red skin at the bottom of the nail may indicate a connective tissue disorder.--Ridges can signify a possible infection such as the flu.--Downward curved nail ends may denote heart, liver, or respiratory problems.--White lines show possible heart disease, high fever, or arsenic poisoning.--Ridges running up and down the nails indicate a tendency to develop arthritis.--Nails that resemble hammered brass indicate a tendency toward partial or total hair loss.--Unusually wide, square nails can suggest a hormonal problems and frayed and split ends indicate psoriasis; vitamin C, folic acid, and protein are needed.--Nails that chip, peel, crack, or break easily show a nutritional deficiency and insufficient hydrochloric acid and protein. Minerals are also needed.--White nails with pink near the tips are a sign of cirrhosis. -Randi A. , RNC- - - - - - - - - - - - - -Finger (and toe) NailsGeneral Weakness / SplittingNutritional deficiencies from poor digestion of proteins and/or minerals may produce general weakness of nails. A lack of stomach acid can produce both of these deficiencies. Note that antacids (also see below) directly interfere with absorption of mineral nutrients.Vegetarians who eat inadequate amounts of protein may experience general weakness of nails.Brittle Nails / Easy TearingA deficiency of calcium may contribute to brittle nails.A deficiency of essential fatty acids may contribute to brittle nails.A deficiency of iron may contribute to brittle nails with a tendency to tear crosswise.A deficiency of zinc may contribute to brittle nails.Supplemental vitamin A is recommended.Vitamin A Caution: Women who may become pregnant should not use more than 10,000 IU/day to avoid the potential for birth defects. Long-term use of doses greater than 50,000 IU/day may become toxic for adults and should be used only with the supervision of a health professional. Consider substituting beta-carotene for long-term use.An excess of selenium may contribute to brittle and thickened nails.SilicaHerbs which are high in the mineral silica are often helpful in strengthening hair and nails. Silica is found in the highest concentrations in the plants that grow tall and straight with the ability to bend in the wind without breaking.Oat strawNature's Sunshine HSN-W is a high-silica hair, skin and nails formula.Pink Half MoonsTreat bowel for Candida infection. Spooning can be an indication of anemia and a deficiency of iron may contribute to spooning with ridging, brittleness, thinness and lack of luster. While fingernail analysis is a complex and richly detailed diagnostic art, taking into account shape, size, color, appearance, and strength, practitioners Zong Xiao-fan and Liscum, authors of Chinese Medical Palmistry (Blue Poppy Press, 1995) offer the following self-helpguidelines.White Fingernails: When the fingernail appears pale, white, and without luster, this can indicate anernia, or what acupuncturists call "blood vacuity." This denotes a lack of vitality and life force in the blood associated with specific organs, and sometimes literally a shortage of blood.White, waxy fingernails can also indicate ulcerative bleeding or the presence of hookworm or other parasitic infestation, which produces a chronic loss of blood. Tiny white speckles appearing under the fingernails suggest a possible deficiency of calcium or zinc, the-activity of internal parasites, chronic constipation, or a state of fatigue. A single horizontal white line crossing the nail is typically associated with lead or arsenic poisoning.Abnormal Nail Arc Shadows: The little white crescent at the base of each fingernail is known as a nail-arc shadow or "health circle." In a healthy person, each fingernail has a well-proportionedarc; arcs indicate not only one's general physical condition but the state of the cardiovascular function. A groove on the ring finger is associated with eyeproblems, bronchitis, or respiratory disease; on the middle finger, with a loss of muscular strength; on the little finger, with problems in the throat, nerves, or gallbladder. A short, square shape to the nail often reflects a person who is impatient and potentially subject to heart disease; this, is especially so if the health circles are small or missing on the same fingernail.Specific Health ProblemIndications: A tendency to develop high blood pressure (and/or its actual presence) is indicated when the left index fingernail is light red, dumbbell shaped, and has a vertical mark in its center. -nn Cade- - - - - - - - - - - - - -This is what we learned about fingernail markings in the "Nutrition" class at CNHP school:(On the thumbnail, 25% of the nail bed shouldbe covered by a moon. (All these markings can appear on toenails as well as fingernails.) -Carol Matz- - - - - - - - - - - - - -Nails as DiagnosticToolReading your NailsNail changes may signify a number of disorders elsewhere in the body. A lack of stomach acid can produce both of these deficiencies. Note that antacids (also see below) directly interfere with absorption of mineral nutrients.Vegetarians who eat inadequate amounts of protein may experience general weakness of nails.Brittle Nails / Easy TearingA deficiency of calcium may contribute to brittle nails.A deficiency of essential fatty acids may contribute to brittle nails.A deficiency of iron may contribute to brittle nails with a tendency to tear crosswise.A deficiency of zinc may contribute to brittle nails.Supplemental vitamin A isrecommended.Vitamin A Caution: Women who may become pregnant should not use more than 10,000 IU/day to avoid the potential for birth defects. Treat bowel for Candida infection. See Candidiasis.Lengthwise (Vertical) RidgesA deficiency of calcium may contribute to lengthwise ridges.A deficiency of stomach acid may contribute to ridges. Stomach acid is required for absorption of nutrients, especially minerals such as calcium.Reduced liver function may contribute to lengthwise ridges. See Liver Support Supplements.- - - - - - - - - - - - - -Fingernails Curve UpI work with a lady whose fingernails turn completely up. She would be very interested in something that would help her nails be more normal. She said they have always been that way. -Barbara Sikes- - - - - - - - - - - - - -Fingernails curving up is called Koilonychia or "spooning." Spooning can be an indication of anemia and a deficiency of iron may contribute to spooning with ridging, brittleness, thinness and lack of luster. Also a deficiency of Chromium may contribute to spooning of nails. Finally, a deficiency of Vitamin C may contribute to spooning and other alterations of nails as a symptom of scurvyFrom: "moodynomad@..." <moodynomad@...> Sent: Thu, March 31, 2011 1:48:05 PMSubject: Re: Re: Testing w/ Blais; How did it help? aw...Thank you Sun!! I gladly take supplements now. so anyway, glad i can be of encouragement. hugsbev----- Testing w/ Blais; How did it help?> > > > > > Â > > > I would like to address this question to those who have tested their implants > > > with Dr. Blais.> > > > > > I am curious to know how this was helpful.
