Guest guest
Hi All.. Dont know wher to begin..Im way behind on reading the digests (141 unread). Sheila lost her balnce and fell exactly a week a go..broke her thigh bone right under the ball that goes into the hip socket..new ball is in place and doing very well but the rest of her isnt..got into a rehab nursing home today..but.. her strength is gone .. a week inbed with tons of morphine and a myriad of other pain killers and muscle relaxants have drugged and weakened her to a lump of flesh..and after the operation.. she started getting leg cramps/charliehorses.. very painful so the continued the drugs and could not figure out why/what with the leg cramps.. her foot jerks and toes point towards the face and calf or thigh muscle solidify in pain.. Sorry to burden you all with this, but im hoping someone will have an answer... Is this part of the OPCA progression of symptoms? is there anything that can stop these cramps? She is on Baclofen and Quinine plus pain killers..to no relief untill she gets knocked out into sleep. Is drugged the next day, and cant do therapy to get her back to where she was walking with a walker.. She always said that when ever, in the past she took a painkiller, she took a step backwards in strength and did not return to prior strength.. Is it possible that the hugh amount of sedatives and painkillers she got have placed her so far behind that she wont get back to walking? Her right arm, which was almost normal in strength before, is so weak now that she cant lift it to scratch her cheek.. And Pam,( or anyone else with a thought) if you read this, any thoughts on time left? Im scared that this step backwards is so large there wont be a recovery to what she was before the fall.. Ill be cheking the emails after 10 pm EST, since i spend all day with her, easing the cramps with pressure/ massage.. Hopefully, Pete Rogulsky in MI. tmj > > Ellen, > I had TMJ surgery several years ago when I could no longer open my mouth > unless I massaged the jaw and gently pried open my mouth.
