Somewhere there is a list of very accommodating companies, I'll need to

look for it but different people have used different places to get what

they need. The VA can be very useful to some. Someone, I think in CA,

told us they even came in and made their house wheelchair accessible so

start looking.

Also, if you want to see if you still have a chance getting what you

need from the first company, involve your state gov. Start with the Att

General's office and go from there. Learn to be aggressive and don't

back down. Push to get what you want and get it right.

Many places will assume you are handicapped physically, mentally,

emotionally and they can do with you as they please. It's kind of like

being raped, the victim asked for it syndrome. Don't accept it. Your

mind still works well even though parts of your body don't. You don't

have a lot of time to waste waiting for someone to decide if you can or

can't have something. You set the time limit and if it's not met, go

someplace else and do it now.

Again, I stress your government offices, state, local, federal. The

responsibilities of what should be done are in places, now it's your

responsibility to see they do what they say they will do. The computer

is a wonderful resource, I'll send you some places to start looking.

VA did offer to put in wheel chair ramps for my dad. We haven't done it yet

but have it on the list. Sometimes we can't get everything done. It just

takes so long to do the routine things. It took us a whole year just to put

up the superpole! Then it was so easy. The VA did give my dad a chair (a

nice one) but said he did not qualifiy for a power chair because he has use

of his arms.

They also gave him another bath chair. He has two. Why he needs three is

beyond me. It's like they see what he has and try to give him a better one.

They did the same with the superpole. ??
