Guest guest
Hi: I want to thank all of you who responded to my note. You have given us much to think about. We spent some time yesterday going over your comments. (I did not have all of them at the time). By today I think Annette and I are in agreement that it would be best if she could continue working. It gives her a positive sense of self which is hard to get any other way. She teaches in a community college and always enjoys the students. For myself I have to be careful as one of the postings had implied that I do not give more of myself than I can or should. Its easy to be a martyr but I know from past experience that at some point I get depressed if I give too much. As to more mundane things, we live in Plainview, Long Island New York. Annette has just started seeing a neurologist, Dr. Bressman who was listed by the National Ataxia Foundation as the person to see in New York City. It took six months to get to see her however. The question of what I should do, retire etc. I think will be deferred if Annette can continue working. Next March on my 60th birthday I can qualify for retiree medical benefits from my current job. Possibly I can work a deal to continue part time after that. Is this the right thing to do? Who knows. I suspect we will be going around this for quite a while. If any of you live in my area I would be interested in speaking to you directly. Again thanks for the advice. Regards, Marty Siegel
