Guest guest
You know better than the doctor what is and is not normal for your husband. Follow your own gut instinct and if the doctor won't listen, take him somewhere else. I wouldn't have gone through all that I did and am currently going through if I would have made the doctor listen to what my body was telling me instead of listening to them say, " It's highly unlikely " and waiting. Let us know how he is doing. I'll be praying for both of you. Deborah Reply-To: shydrager To: shydrager Subject: Question: Could use help/advice Date: Tue, 14 May 2002 16:55:14 -0000 My husband is catheterized and has been for over six months. Last night he started with pain in his right testicle (no fever) and so I called the doctor who put him on an antibiotic. This morning he is in more pain, running a low grade fever (100.0) and there seems to be additional stridor sounds. Called again this morning and Doctor's office said to take tylenol and use cold compresses. His BP is all over the place. Question: Has anyone else had experience with this? Should I sit tight like they say or should I be making some noise? Guest guest
My husband uses a cathe four times a day, this started over two years ago. He has been in the hospital once for a week when he first started using them to get the infection under control and then they started him on a low dose every night since then. The second time he started running a high temperature, it was at the weekend, I was advised to call on Monday, but if he became worse, to take him to the hospital, which I did and they put him on IV antibiotics while we were there. The Urinologist told us when ever he started to have chills or temperature to contact the doctor immediately. I not sure about the blood pressure, but if you have any concerns, I would call. Hope I helped. Guest guest
Jan, Please keep us informed about Jerry. It doesn't sound good at all. Do you think it might be a good idea to take him to the hospital? You know what is best. Will pray for you both. Guest guest
Irrespective of whether a fever is at work, if your husband still has significant pain in the testicle, I strongly recommend he sees a doctor. I had a similar problem a few years ago and they were concerned it was twisted and could require surgery. In my case it was a bacterial infection and required antibiotics to clear up.
