I'm so dissapointed right now. On March 8, I went to OH to have total capsulectomy with Dr. Feng. I went to her because:

1 - she was highly recommended by Dr. Blais

2 - she said she would order test for ALCL Lymphoma of fluid found around breast in MRI. I talked to surgeon in MI who did the implants and didn't trust that he would order the test so $8,250 was paid out of pocket and went to OH.

During my pre-op we specifically went over CD 30 (and 29) being ordered per FDA recommendations to test for ALCL. My mother was in the room and we were all in agreement to having the test ordered and that we would self pay for the test if my insurance didn't cover it (no additional expense to Feng's office). Also, right after sugery that was the first question I asked, "Testing of fluid was ordered for 29 and 30, right?" I was assured it was. I just got my path report and those test were not run. I called and spoke to Dori her nurse (who was very nice) and said, "Oh, it must just be we didn't specificallly request those. I'll talk to Dr. and make sure we let the lab know and get those ordered. " I then asked her about path testing for the saxitoxin algae (picked up yesterday on biofeedback as main toxin in the body). I said we would pay out of pocket if needed. Again she said "sure" and they'd let

the lab know. I called the lab and they assured me they still had my fluid but would need the order from Dr. Feng. This afternoon I got a call from Dr. Feng herself and she said:

- "I did not order the test because I saw no reason too. There was nothing abnormal." (even though FDA recommends if there's pain, swelling, and fluid in the breast it should be checked for ALCL lymphoma). "Besides they probably have thrown your fluid away by now."

I told her I talked to the lab earlier and they said they still have my fluid and I would like the test anyway and pay out of pocket if needed. She said she was not an "order taker" and would not order the test. Apparently $8,250 is not enough money to write two numbers down on a pathology order slip.

she then said

- "As far as the algae, there's no way you could have that as there's not enough light in the body for it to grow."

I told her Dr. Blais acknowledges that algae can be present with implants. She said "I would challenge that."

She did do a good job on the surgery but I only got half of what I went down there for. The surgery was done but not testing for ALCL. Even though it would be no extra expense to her office to order the test she wouldn't. Which is exactly why I didn't get the surgery done in MI. That's why I'm so dissapointed. I also feel it's a discredit to Dr. Blais and all the women who've been tested positive for algae and have problems associated with that (respiratory, numbing of limbs etc). I have since called the lab back to make sure they don't throw away my fluid. So far no one's returned my call. My fluid better not get "lost".

Sorry . . . just had to vent.

I had a small lump in my breast and the ps said they will do exploratory explant and the insurance came back and said they will only cover the explant of the lump and not the explant..I have CIGNA and they are very strict, but I've heard that other insurance companies are lenient so it all depends on the insurer. Dede is right using the write wording can make a lot of difference.

Thanks, this is very helpful. Were you successful in using this approach? Was the ps willing to do this, or did you go through a primary care doctor for diagnosis, statement on what needed to be done? > >> > Hi Irma. I unfortunately didn't use dr jae but I spoke with 2 doctors recently who Highly recommended him. They said he was knowledgeable in breast implant illness so I would definitely make an appointment for a consult with him. Hope you get those things out soon and start healing! > > ~Bev> > Sent via BlackBerry by AT & T> > > > Looking for a good surgeon in So. I believe it is the implants making me sick and am looking for a good surgeon in the southern California area that will do a proper en bloc removal. Does anyone have any recommendations? Does anyone have experience with Dr. Jae Chun?> > > > > > > > ------------------------------------> > > >
