Do hope your track investment pays off in service and labor saving. We, (I) because Jan's current ability to blink his eyes is no longer a method of acceptably intelligent communication, ceased to use the big boy's lift and reluctantly accepted a prone bedfast existence. I devised an under the bed emergency trundle to drag him outside by myself. Positioning him comfortably with all the professionally inflicted souvenir " holes " is a major challenge. Hope you can find some help before your knees are gone and similar infections plague the both of you. Can his chair be attendant driven? Ours was and the back lowering option allowed for faints and prolonged waits. I had to have help returning him to a sitting position but a compressed air cylinder option is sometimes available. Council on aging is giving me an untrained helper 4 hours every two weeks. This is for caregiver relief -- if you can teach the assigned helper enough to trust them in your absence -- for sleep, appointments, shopping, etc. So far I left contact numbers and for a real treat sallied out to Wal - Mart, Family Drugstore, and rushed thru the grocery aisles. Three and a half miles here puts you out of town. Who knows, I may even make it to the library someday if things continue to go well and the phones work. I would like to explore brain donation experiences. Not likely with facilities in a very small town unless body has a protruding kitchen knife and local legal eagle suggested $15,000 as a start for " consumer " autopsy procedures. Cremation would be a first here as was fee pay nursing home stay for 10 days 4 years past. Jan with his longevity, overlapping symptoms of PD, AD, rigidity, fronto-temporal atrophy and Guam Tour of Duty when there WERE monkeys might make his contribution unique and beneficial. I have so little time to explore. ANY comments and experience would help me at this point. THEN I might contact Mayo or Vand Gotta run to Jan - hope things go well for you and Speedy for years to come. Thanks for concerns.
