Guest guest
Not very damn good. It ain't WLS-related and it's stirring more *hit. Now I know what having kids is like. Sheesh! Guest guest
ROFL!! My guess is that the next " discussion " will now be about SUVS? I drive a minivan because I have three kids 6 and under, so I guess I'm safe. 98 in DC? Wow, that's hotter than here in Florida. It's been in the low 90s here all day. Right now it's 77 though because there's a black cloud over my house, it's thundering and the wind has picked up quite a bit, so I'm guessing that we're in for a storm. ------------------------------------------------ Terry Mayers 5DollarHosting.comT http://www.5dollarhosting.com http://www.5dollarhosting.com/> (877)-838-HOST / .... because it shouldn't cost a fortune to make a fortune! Personally, I think that people who drive the SUVs are doing more damage to the world than WLS patients who accidentally get drunk on a sip and a half of wine. How's that for changing the subject? Guest guest
My surgery Angel taught me a great thing about staying cool, not gulping -- when I'm doing outdoors stuff for a period of time (cutting grass, gardening, volley ball... just about anything out in the heat..) I pour water over my head and neck as I start to drink my water... the water over my head takes my body temperature back down (or it feels like it anyway) leaving me to drink my water at a reasonable rate instead of gulping it down... it REALLY has saved me these last two summers -- I can stay outside longer and stay hydrated much better if I do that about every 15/30 minutes. I've got 2 grand daughters born last September ~smile~ and a grand son due this October ~smile~ congratulations!!! Just out of WLS and being pregnant curiosity -- what is your Folic and do they do extra testing on that for you post WLS? hugz, ~denise

Guest guest
I can add to that! It's in the 100's here in the Central Valley (Calif) and I'm sitting in the roasting heat knitting shawls and stoles because I now freeze to death in most public places. Before WLS I never even owned a sweater- now I knit warm things in August. Alice The Loon RNY 12/28/00 > > > OK...I can make this WLS related for our Moderator Daddy. Guest guest
One thing that helps - I keep half frozen bottles of water in the freezer. Every time I go out, I fill one up and carry it with me. I sip it, but also rub it against my wrists or neck if the heat gets too bad - it helps a lot, especially on the NYC subway platforms, which are like ovens. Guest guest
Since moving to Florida 4 1/2 months ago, I've learned just how important it is to keep hydrated. I drink a 4 liters of water a day, and have for nearly a year. Prior to moving, I'd drink 3 liters of it before lunch and the remaining liter throughout the rest of the day. This was mainly because I ran my errands in the morning and I always drink while I'm driving (ok, that sounds really bad, but you know what I mean). I learned early on that this won't work here. I was getting headaches and was very tired by late afternoon many days, especially days when I was outside a lot. I didn't figure out what was doing it until I read a post somewhere about the symptoms of dehydration. I always figured that since I drank so much water, I could never be dehydrated. WRONG!! Now, I space my water out more evenly. I still drink a lot in the morning, but I make sure to drink at least 2 liters after lunch and that's worked well for me so far. I had two summer babies - one born 8/2/96 and one born 9/23/98 - and it was definitely a challenge to stay comfortable during the last trimester. Keep cool and congratulations on the baby! ------------------------------------------------ Terry Mayers 5DollarHosting.comT http://www.5dollarhosting.com http://www.5dollarhosting.com/> (877)-838-HOST / .... because it shouldn't cost a fortune to make a fortune! Guest guest
Is it hot up here in Washington? I didn't notice. I'm sitting here with long pants on and a down comforter over my lap thinking I wish I had my sweater on...this is August? They say it's hot out...but my body is telling me something way different! Maybe I'm just getting too skinny. Regards~ Jacque
