Guest guest
This is just an update on my weight gain after being on Hormone Replacement Therapy for about 3 weeks. I had gained 7 lbs in 3 weeks while being " normal " in every other way with my food choices. Well, I went off the hormones for just FOUR (4) days now, and have lost all 7 lbs. Does that tell you that HRT is a cause of weight gain????? I guess I will deal in other ways with the symptoms of menopause, because I will NOT gain my weight back!!!!! Thanks for all your input...all of you! Dianne B.
Guest guest
Hi Dianne, I'm also going through menopause right now, which may be the cause of my sleeplessness (last week's thread). But, I won't do HRT because of major breast cancer in my family, so my OB/GYN put me on Remifemin (Black Cohosh). Let me preface this by saying that prior to my yearly appointment with him, I started taking over-the-counter soy isoflavones to help with hot flashes, and they all but stopped! So, I see my doc, and he gives me the Remifemin. If you're not familiar with Black Cohosh, it's an herb that's been used in Europe for a long time to help with menopausal symptoms, and it appears to not have the same potentially dangerous side effects of HRT. Well, my hot flashes returned with a vengeance...major dripping sweats, etc. So, I dumped them (on my own), and went back on the soy. This was only about a week ago, but so far so good. I also never had any weight gain or any other side effects from the soy. Now, this is only my experience, but if you're off the HRT, you might want to try the soy just to see. BTW, glad the weight came back off. in NJ ********************************************** In a message dated 8/3/2002 7:37:04 AM Eastern Daylight Time, Graduate-OSSG writes: > This is just an update on my weight gain after being on Hormone Replacement > Therapy for about 3 weeks.
