The carbs come from the filler that is used to make the product look like

something more than just a few dots of dust. Remember how tiny saccharine tabs

were? They fill out the artificial sweeteners to fool our eyes... and make it

look like we are getting " MORE " ...

Thanks for doing the research on this!

Thank you for visiting us on the internet. Like other sugar

substitutes in

powder form, each packet of Sweet'N Low contains approximately .9

grams of

carbohydrates. Should you wish to have a product without any

carbohydrates

you may want to try our Sweet'N Low Liquid. Sweet'N Low Liquid is

carbohydrate-free and has no effect on blood sugar level. It is

available

at supermarkets (click on store locator for more information) and by

online

purchase.

Thanks again, and best regards,

It **is** <1 gm per serving... but if you use several pkgs per day,

those carbs DO add up.

Is everyone really going into so much detail as to tracking each and

every carb they consume? I don't think a carb is a carb. Carbs from

fruits give us so much more than sugars, ie. vitamins, fiber and

feeling of satisfaction/fullness. I have advised people to try not

to create another diet out of this whole experience, but a better way

of eating. In our Dr's support groups we had people looking into

high protein pasta from a health food store and asked if this was ok

versus regular pasta. People have been consuming soy snacks and

other goodies from the health food stores that are high in protein

and low in carbs. But they are not dealing with real food. I think

that is the issue. We have been trained to always be on a diet. I

don't know about you but I know I am tired of diets. I don't want to

be counting points, measuring cups of this and ounces of that.

I think we can get too obsessed with food, something that got us into

trouble before. I think people need to retrain their minds to not

revolve their lives around food. It's fine to be watchful but not of

everything! We need to free ourselfs from food's trance! We are

addicts and we need to break that friendship/love affair. Food

should be a tool to keeping alive and healthy.

If I were to be tracking every carb, sugars, protein in everything I

eat, I would never know what it is like to not think about food for a

good stretch of the day!

I try to look at each meal in itself. I think the thing to look at

is the whole food itself and make choices. Are you about to eat a

sandwhich? If so, would it be better to leave out the bread and make

it a chef salad or tuna salad on the side with a small salad. These

are the choices I look into, not whether the coffee I am going to

drink will have some carbs in the sweetner and creamer. Someone

brings bagels to the office, do you indulge on half a bagel or do you

pass and have a fruit or a lille protein drink when you are actually

hungry?

I am also not saying I am perfect either. Because as I have posted

before, I still have 50lbs to lose and have had to cut the sweets and

carbs. But I have not been looking at the nutritional content of my

food but controlled the portions or made substitutes. Since I cut the

sweets (chocolate, cookies, cake...) and now have cut the breads and

pasta in my meals for the last 2 1/2 weeks I have lost 6-7 lbs (which

I had gained since May). I have found eliminating the sweets has been

easy. Starches, is another story but I am cutting down.

Sorry for the long post. But I am just concerned that people are not

working on detaching themselves from food's hold and learning to

treat food as sustinence. Which I think is the thin person's secret.

We have to deal with real foods. One thing I try do is to not eat

too many processed foods. No frozen dinners, puddings, ice creams,

FF this and that. I also try not to eat out much because I don't

know how much butter is used and I find that everything has so many

starches involved (breaded and fried)!

Well, I don't know if I have offended some of you but I just felt

impelled to write about this.

Thanks,

I can't disagree with your line of thinking, except that this line of thinking

did not work for me. I have had to face the fact that my surgery was a tool, and

I mis-used it. I thought I could make good choices -- I can't. I thought I could

look at a meal and know that it was mostly protein and that was fine. I was

wrong. I went from 415 to 200, and now I'm back to 250, because I THOUGHT I

could quit dieting.

I don't want to count carbs and ounces for the rest of my life. But if I don't

want to see 400 again, I have to. That's what works FOR ME. We are always

saying, " This is what works FOR ME. " If non-dieting and lifestyle changing works

for YOU, that's wonderful, and I applaud you. I'm a compulsive overeater who

cannot stop and cannot make good food choices if I don't write every damned carb

down and look at it at the end of the day.

As far as the one carb serving of Sweet-n-Low -- as has been mentioned, some

people are drinking so many drinks with artificial sweetener that they are

getting half a day's carbs or more just from their " diet, " " no calorie " drinks!

Heck, it's happening to me! Now that I'm writing down the creamer for my coffee,

I see I'm getting 15 - 25 carbs a day in creamer alone! How insane is that? No

wonder I stopped losing and started gaining! So, for SOME of us, as with

everything else, we have to count EVERYTHING, including that little pink or blue

packet of sweetener. Believe me, I wish it weren't so, but for some of us

(perhaps most of us, from the sounds of things), it is.

We should make it a tagline -- What works for ME!
