I know my stoma's stretched to the max because Dr. Gagner told me it was when

he did my transection. He also said it was too dangerous to fix but, crazy

as it may sound to some, as long as I toss my cookies occasionally when I eat

too much or too fast, I know it's still working.

I was 3 years out on 8/99, so I really have stopped the easy losing, but I

did drop 20 pounds recently by exchanging my oatmeal breakfast for a protein

shake, which also led me to give up the junk snacking throughout the day.

I also posted last week about being on an eat-a-thon and gaining 5 pounds.

Well, I realized what my trigger was. I'm normally not much of a bread

eater, but if I do buy it, I eat it because it's so good. Well, I found an

awesome lo-cal soft rye bread, bought a pound and since I'm single, who else

is gonna eat it? So, several peanut butter and jelly (1/2 sandwiches)

throughout the day, or whatever cold cuts I happen to have, and voila! 5

pounds shows up in no time. I might as well have gone back to the pretzels

and other junk food. So, I gave up the bread for a week, and if I remember,

add a protein drink each day, and this morning, I'm down that 5 I gained,

plus 1. Happy day! Even if I don't keep losing, this gives me breathing

room again.

I honestly wish it was this easy for those dealing with the bounceback issues

right now. I know right now, shocking my body with change seems to work, but

who knows what the future holds.
