Guest guest
I am assuming my post from last week was moderated and bounced (I never did see it posted) because I mentioned in it that my sister died from WLS surgery, however I am 13-14 months out and doing fine. I found it quite irritating that this happened. Jeanese M. Guest guest
I am what my doc calls a long limb proximal. That may be a medial or distal depending on who you talk to. I have the silastic ring and am transected. What would you like to know? My doc has revised quite a few from the untransected RNY because they seem to have more staple line disruptions after a while. The silastic ring keeps the opening to the small intestine from stretching and allowing a lot of food to pass through easily. Chrissie shihtzumom@... http://users.snip.net/~shihtzumom My WLS Journey: http://millennium.fortunecity.com/doddington/691/WLS/this_is_me.htm ----- Original Message ----- From: Kari ...snip... I am looking for anyone who has had both the silastic ring and the Gastric Bypass combined in the same surgery. I had a gastric bypass two years ago and have had major problems with feeling full since practically the beginning. I lost 150 pounds, but have started a pattern of regain. So I am scheduled to go back in on the 25th for this revision. He is going to add the silastic ring and I want him to transect. I am a proximal at this time, but he was talking about possibly extending it to a medial. I know this will probably do the trick.. but was interested to see if anyone out there has experience with this.
Guest guest
Kari, I have had a revision to a medial, but the stomach was just transected as I had a disrupted staple line. I lost the weight I gained back, but haven't done much to lose past my original stopping point. Mostly it is because of my own darn fault. I don't make good food choices and haven't been doing my protein....which is why I am not doing good food choices. AND I KNOW BETTER!!!!!! But the mind just can't kick in right now. {{{{{{{{SIGHHH}}}}}}} I am on an anti-depressant and an anti-anxiety meds.......but still no help in the making the right decisions. Guest guest
I'm sorry to hear this! You have my condolences, Jeanese. May I ask what happened? Complications obviously but something that maybe we can all watch out for.
