Guest guest
It sounds, from the abstracts Pam gave us, that the vocal cord and breathing problems are very complex. A very good ENT doctor with good EMG facilities is necessary to dx. I have mentioned before that I, the caregiver, not MSA, have spasmodic dystonia and get Botox injections into my vocal cords regularly. It helps a lot, but that is a very simple situation. If paralysis is the problem, you wouldn't want to paralyze those muscles further with Botox. Also Botox can affect the cricopharyngeal muscles even if not injected directly. Trouble with swallowing can be a " side effect " of large doses of Botox, which happened to me after over vigorous injection into my neck muscles for essential tremor. So, just a word of caution.
