Guest guest
Wanted to cross post this ...it's quite illuminating ... never thought of it until I was *actually* typing it....Not sure how I feel right now...it brought up alot of emotions .. anyway ....Speaking from experience, I was much more sexually active and sexually responsive when I was MO. Oddly enough, when I lost all my weight, I didn't want ANYTHING to do with sex, much to my husband's dismay - he now had a thin hot wife who he *wanted* to make love to, and I am so unresponsive... I find myse;f sneaking into bed after he falls asleep, being careful to not wake him up, for if I did, he'd roll over and grope me - asking for the acts for which I had no desire ... still am perplexed by this on a *daily* basis. Being a Nurse, I justify my not going to my PCP by saying that she has more important patients to care for than a chick who is status-post WLS and had the nerve to come to her office complaining of 21 months of low sex drive. I tend to self diagnose - I'm good at it...Not sure of the pshysiology behind the sex drive loss, but if I had to venture 2 guesses, they would be (1) my estrogen and testosterone levels became totally doinked up by my starving nearly to death, and even though they have leveled off, I still have not ovulated in 21 months since my surgery......or (2) I used my sexuality pre-surg while MO to get attention from men - but now that I'm thin and don't need to use sex as a tool, I am left with nothing ... no desire, no emotion, no sex drive ..... Man that was deep... --------------------------------------- Subject: Re: Re: doing what the dr. tells you Yeah, but who wants to have sex when you are depressed. I certainly never did. I felt so unworthy and unsexy that it wasn't even funny. I would much rather be happy with myself with no sex then depressed and possibly suicidal with no sex. Guest guest
Nurses are a different breed of folk ... we run to the Doc for major issues like quarter-sized mole changes, pap smears, or broken bones...We curse those who run to the Doc for sniffles and a smoking-indiced bronchitis, or in my case, surgery-induced hypolibido....whilst applying " tincture of time " to cure them all ..... I'd feel like a fool if I went to the Doc for such an issue. I actually talked to my boss yesterday morning, and she suggested I that she'd much rather see my symptoms as apposed to a broken toe which only needed buddy-taping, Motrin, and tincture of time....but also added that Ishould have my hormone levels drawn (duh!) as starvation can doink them up majorly (duh, again!)
