Guest guest
This is a big problem for me when traveling alone. If you can find a decent cafeteria that is a wonderful option. As someone else mentioned, Boston Market has " real food " as well. Friday's or O'Charley's has decent grilled salmon. I hate spending $15 for a meal then eating less than 20% of it, but sometimes I do. I take a cooler with me almost everywhere. I take some little omelets baked in mini muffin tins. A few of those in a zip lock bag can be popped right in the microwave. I find most all of the mid price chains such as Hampton Inns, Comfort Inns, etc have a microwave in the breakfast bar area that we can use any time of the day or night. Sometimes I will go to a steakhouse and order a filet. I will eat 2 or 3 bites, then ask for a box. I cut the remainder of the steak into bite size pieces and take it with me. I can have a few pieces later in the evening and heat it up for breakfast the next morning. Denny's or IHOP is a decent choice as I can nearly always eat an egg, bacon and piece of toast. It's cheap, fast, and a fair amount of protein. I generally end up eating nuts, cheese, beef jerky and protein shakes if I'm only on the road for a day or two. I've thrown up too many $10 to $20 meals, fast food simply isn't an option for me. With the weather turning cold here now, I know I will make up a can of Cream of Chicken soup, add a can of pureed chicken and a can of mushrooms. I'll put it in my thermos, knowing it can be reheated as single servings in hotel microwaves if it gets cold. B
