Incidentally but importantly, I am achieving very good mood and mental

health results with OmegaBrite omega-3 fatty acids. I'm taking about 3

grams a day and while it made me tired the first few weeks, it's leveling

off with very nice anti-anxiety and anti-depressive effects. If you do a

google search on " omega 3 fatty depression " or something like that, you can

see all of the articles. Their site is www.omegabrite.com

How is this possible? I thought that " we " don't absorb fats, oils, etc. Bcuz

of that, I quit taking my fish oil caps right after WLS. Are you a very short

proximal?

Thanx,

I think reports of malabsorption are greatly overstated in many cases.

Distals have serious malabsorption problems, medials less, proximals less,

but I would bet there is great variation among those. I certainly would not

eat as if I didn't absorb fat. Our skin would be flaking off, and we'd have

serious medical problems.

I bought into the " we don't absorb fat " theory until I stopped having my two

latte's made with half and half and lost six pounds in about 2-3 weeks. It

wasn't the sugar because I still have sugar sometimes in greater quantities

than a cup of half and half per day. It was the fat.

We're all so much more different than we realize, and our bodies adapt. I'm

definitely absorbing the oil capsule, which I take on a full pouch....in

fact, the directions suggest that. My theory is that it sits on top of the

food in the pouch, dissolves and gets abosrbed. Perhaps I'm not getting

100%, but I'm getting plenty. BTW, I am a proximal.
