Guest guest
After almost 3 years, I still go through days of wonder at how my life has changed - sometimes in obvious, big ways, but often in the small things. When I was 25, and lost my first 100 lbs on Weight Watchers, I joined a gym and signed up for a massage. I remember being nervous at letting anyone touch my body. I was so embarrassed when the masseuse saw my stretch marks and asked me how many kids I had [none]. Because I was so young, I didn't laugh it off. I never had another massage. 15 years later, for our first vacation after we were married, my husband wanted to start the week off with back massages to relax. He couldn't understand why I wouldn't go [i weighed 240 pounds, and I wasn't letting anyone touch the rolls of fat]. He was disappointed, and I felt bad about it for years. Fast forward to yesterday - I've been feeling tension in my back, and decided to get a massage. I had a full hour massage, and it was wonderful. As I'm lying there, I realized that I had no fat at all on my upper body, and I didn't really care about my legs and thighs at all - I realized that I am happy with my body, and was able to relax and enjoy (and it was a male masseuse!) I've decided to go back once a month as a treat to myself, and a way to stay in touch with my body. Thought you would all appreciate this.....
