It can be hard, frustrating, dedicated work, just like most things in life. You already know exactly what you're doing wrong; you know what you need to do. The problem is finding the motivation to do it (well, that, and finding your individual set point of calories in vs. calories burned at which your body will release the weight). I am now moving towards the end of Month Two in my quest to lose " the last 20 lbs. Here is my plan: 6:30 a.m. - protein shake 8:30 a.m. - coffee with nonfat milk 10:00 a.m. - protein shake 12:00 - lunch (usually a cup of cottage cheese, chicken or tuna salad, or lately an egg foo yung patty and some broccoli) 5:30 - dinner (1/2 c. starch - potatoes, macaroni, etc.), veggies, and 4 ozs of protein 7:30 - snack (lately, two puffed rice cakes, or an apple) This brings me in about 1500 calories a day. I also try for 4-5 trips to the gym where I do 40 minutes of cardio and 30 minutes of weight lifting. This plan has resulted in a total loss of 6 lbs. in two months (3 of which were in the first two weeks). Not impressive results, but technically, results. I don't think I can eat much less and refrain from killing someone. I took the last week off from the gym and I am back up another pound - so I need to be pretty darned vigilant. It's hard work, I don't like it, but for now, I am willing to keep doing it. I'm taking the day off today and dragging my butt back to the gym. This would be so much easier if I didn't have to (a) work for a living, ( take care of a family, © deal with all these darned cats, (d) well....you get the idea. We all have a million excuses.
