Guest guest
To the person who wrote about having hypoglycemia after WLS and who was diabetic pre-surgery, and kept taking insulin afterwards bcuz of cell resistance to insulin: (Sorry to reply late; I wasn't " legal " to post till today) I was diabetic (thankfully and hopefully permanently cured now) but I take a SPICE daily -- I read somewhere that plain old ground cinnamon supposedly helps make cells less resistant to insulin. One teaspoon daily. I divide mine into 1/4 tsp and put it into each of my 4 choc flavored protein shakes a day. I figured it can't hurt and might help, esp after reading that it's not at all uncommon for diabetes to come back again several yrs after WLS. Just tho't I'd pass on the info for what it's worth. Another way to have it is in yogurt (if u do yogurt) or in cottage cheese. Years ago when I was on the Trim Club diet, one of the snax allowed was cottage cheez on Melba toasts, run under the broiler to melt the c/chz and if u wanted a diff version, add sweetener and cinnamon on top. That was the ONLY thing about that diet that I liked, LOL. (Bonus: calcium AND protein on top of less insulin resistance; how can u lose)? Hope u get help on your hypoglycemia problem soon, and hang in there with all 10 fingernails. Sometimes it seems to take way more effort than it reasonably should to advocate for yourself in today's medical world. Be persistent. Good luck, Carol A
