Is there any way to stop this harassment? Carol Richmond, VA >>> " wlsgal99 " rny2001@...> 08/08/02 10:59AM >>> Everytime I send a post to this list (and I am positive that it's this list), I get automatically subscribed to a list called " Insane Pictures " . Within seconds of posting here, I will get an email in my box saying " thank you for subscribing " , every single time. I emailed the web master of that site and they said the KLEZ virus causes this, but that I am not the infected party. Guest guest
I emailed their webmaster and they put me on a " banned " list. Now, instead of saying I've been subscribed, it says I can't be subscribed. I set my message rules in Outlook Express to put it in the deleted folder. I couldn't figure out any other way to stop it. I don't know what's up, except that it's annoying. I kind of doubt that yahoo groups would let an infection like this go on, but maybe. In other words, I don't know nothing !!!!! Guest guest
I emailed the Web Master of the site that owns that list, and here was his exact response to me: *************** Hello, Sorry for any inconvienence. It would be the KLEZ virus that's subscribing you over and over again. It fakes email headers and sends out emails. You don't need to be infected for it to affect you, only that whoever is infected has your email address somewhere in their mailbox. What I'll do is add your email address to the banned list so that way you can't be added at all. If it keeps happening please contact me. Thanks. *************** His email address is insane_pics@.... Maybe if everyone emailed him, he'd try and do something about it. Amy Re: Off Topic (sort of): Insane Pictures List Here is a copy of what I keep getting everytime I post to OSSG-Graduate. Guest guest
Well, if EVERYONE on this list would run an updated virus checker it would clean off the KLEZ virus and this would stop. But the infected person needs to do this in order for this to work. I have Norton Antivirus on my computer and it updates daily. It's not that expensive and it would make everyone's life a lot easier. Please, everyone, if your computer doesn't have some sort of anti- virus software on it, that is UPDATED regularly, get some! There are numerous programs out there. Not only is this a nuisance, but some viruses can wipe out your entire computer. Not good! Amy > Well, not exactly. Guest guest
You can set your Norton to run while you're at work or asleep, so it can suck in the latest info, and update your files you are bug proof fresh daily. I think my " right to update " was $21 for the year. The original software was ..? $50 with a $20 rebate? I don't use my computer to send mail to Graduate-OSSG. I also get the subscription messages.... But only when I send messages to Graduate-OSSG. Furthermore, my computer is UNIX based and not susceptible to KLEZ. Therefore the problem is not the sender... it's somehow the list... Yahoo!Groups has the problem... they need to clean it up.... The question becomes how do we put this back in their laps?????? Jan
