I don't use my computer to send mail to Graduate-OSSG. I also get the subscription messages.... But only when I send messages to Graduate-OSSG. Furthermore, my computer is UNIX based and not susceptible to KLEZ. Therefore the problem is not the sender... it's somehow the list... Yahoo!Groups has the problem... they need to clean it up.... The question becomes how do we put this back in their laps?????? Jan

Guest guest
Months ago I had this problem, but it stopped finally. I'm sure hoping it doesn't start up again. However, for a couple of days last week I was getting emails from someone's screen name (who shall remain nameless) on one of the WLS lists that always had an attachment attached to it. She was NOT the one sending this email. I believe someone had invaded her address book. Did anyone else get these emails? I notified the person and also AOL and it stopped. Guest guest
Well, you're not exactly right either. It COULD be yahoogroups, but it still could also be an individual. You see, even though you post through the Web site, your posts get sent to other people who choose to get messages through their email program. When your message with your email address on it gets to a person who is infected with KLEZ, you get subscribed. So it makes no difference whether you are on no- mail or not or whether you have UNIX or not. It happens because your email address gets into an infected person's program. If the infected person was on no-mail, this would not be happening. The KLEZ virus harvests email addresses that come through the infected person's email program and then sends out messages using those addresses. If the infected person was on no-mail, they wouldn't be getting our messages and therefore our email addresses wouldn't be harvested and we wouldn't be getting subscribed. So you see, it could be the list itself, or it still could be just one individual. We just don't know at this point! Amy >> This is not completely true... Guest guest
Jan, I wrote to Yahoo customer service a few months ago when the Klez virus was REALLY bad....and I got NOT even a form letter back in email. They are burying their heads in the sand with this virus. Fortunately.....inspite of the fact that I have had a few people that I don't even KNOW try to tell me that my computer is contaminated......but I check for viruses daily and do my Nortons updates daily. Guest guest
It's not just you. I didn't associate it with posts to the Graduate list, but now that you mention it, that is when it happens to me. Keltie wlsgal99 wrote:Everytime I send a post to this list (and I am positive that it's this list), I get automatically subscribed to a list called " Insane Pictures " . Within seconds of posting here, I will get an email in my box saying " thank you for subscribing " , every single time. I emailed the web master of that site and they said the KLEZ virus causes this, but that I am not the infected party. The person/place I am emailing is the infected party, which would mean that this group is somehow infected. Anyone else getting subscribed to this list or is it just me? Guest guest
Sure enough... I posted to Graduate-OSSG using Yahoo from a computer that is virus scanned every 4 hours (at work)... and I got the msg from Lyris Listmanager. I don't have the Klez worm, and even at home, my antivirus software is active continuously. Keltie ---------------------------------
